Job Description:
Applications are invited for the post of professionally qualified and experienced Hotel Manager having 3-4 years experience as a Hotel Manager in Star Hotels.
The candidates key responsibilities would be :
You would use computer software to carry out some of the following tasks, and to keep records, prepare work schedules and write reports.
-Responsible for operation of all matters related to day-to-day activities of the hotel in a smooth and responsible manner.
-To make sure that guests enjoy good customer services.
-Follow up of Menus as per programme and clients requirements.
-Supervision of Le Relax Snacks as per specified standards.
-Overall control and monitoring of stock and order position of all items required for the day-to-day activities of the hotel.
-Monitoring each stage of hotel activities to make sure that costs are in line with forecasts.
-Preparation of prescribed daily operational reports and submit to Head Office Management for their review.
-Plan and control budgets + analyze sales figures and programme targets + work out marketing strategies to generate more business.
-Organize regular meetings with all concerned / Head of Department to set business strategy and other organizational activities.
-To get work done from others in the absence of any staff.
-Overall supervision of security and advice on health and safety.
-Excellent public relation skill with customers by means of good behavior.
-Preparation and management of budgets – management by objectives & management by execution.
-Always maintain hygienic atmosphere in the hotel by keeping everything clean and tidy.
-Providing financial progress reports to Head of Department on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
-Follow up of other operational duties as assigned by the governing body.
-Follow up of proper maintenance for all equipment pertaining to air-conditioning, electrical, kitchen, TV, cable and wireless network, etc.

-A good knowledge of hotel industry and multi national tourism oriented matters.

-Ability to handle matters diplomatically while dealing with local and overseas partners/clients.

-Candidates must be multilingual and fluent in reading, writing English and French (Option Italian/Germans).

-Must be computer literate (IT), knowledge in Hotel Management software – namely Fidelio/Vista/Sun Account/Peach Tree which will be considered as an added advantage.
-A methodical approach to work.
-Good organizational skills and ability to handle priorities and multi tasks.
-A clear understanding of Hotel Industry and other related legal guidelines.
-Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
-Helping in recruitment and training of staff.
-The ability to work as a part of team.
-Proficiency to interpret with local authorities.
The candidate should have a Degree or Diploma in Hotel Management/Catering preferably with Tourism/Finance background or Equivalent.

I am an Ethiopian, Tourism and Hotel Management professional who have been in the industry for over 30 years now.
Studied Tourism and Hotel Management at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, in Salzburg, Austria and got a diploma in Hotel Management "With Merit".
Upon completion my studies, I worked for six (6) hotels of International standard in Austria and Germany and translated the theory into practice.
Back home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, I worked as manager of hotels for six (6) years and as general manager of hotel chains/enterprises which were owned by tha then National Hotels corporation of Ethiopia.
Currently I am engaged in Tourism and Hotel Management consultancy. Activities include :
