Project Description:
The goal of this project will be to implement DCT on FPGA.
The discrete cosine transform (DCT) is a technique for converting a signal into elementary frequency components. It is widely used in “image compression”. Here we develop some simple functions to compute the DCT and to compress images. Lower frequencies contributes with more picture information than higher frequencies does. It means a high frequency components can be neglected because those high frequency components in the image are invisible to a human eye since the image can be compressed without changing a too much quality
