Job Description:
** To lead and manage the procurement activities, which include planning, budgeting of inventory of Shasun Drugs & Chemicals Ltd, India.
** This is a key role, typically working in a complex, high spend environment, involving the implementation of strategic procurement activities.
** The 2 key areas of focus for this role are:
** Work with the category leaders and key customers to ensure successful implementation of strategic sourcing decisions.
** Within area of spend, takes full accountability for successful implementation of contracts and ongoing contract and relationship management.
** Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes and implementation of sustainable cost controls. The role holder is accountable for the line and performance management of a Procurement team of Category Leaders, Procurement Alignment Managers and deployed Analysts from PP&C.

• Key Responsibilities :
Procurement:
** Develop and drive procurement plans to allow Account teams to assist customers to make decisions necessary to purchase products and services in congruence with organizational objectives and sourcing strategies.
** Work closely with Account Leader and Account Management team to understand demand of the Domestic & Regulatory business in order to drive category strategies to deliver suppliers and solutions to customers both short and long term.
** Lead team to locate and select potential sources of materials and/or services with Account Management team, based on business requirements.
** For strategic sourcing opportunities, lead the preparation of and solicit competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions.
** Lead the evaluation of competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for a product or service. Develop bid evaluation approach in support of supplier selection process.
** Manage team to develop umbrella contracts and/or Master Service Agreements for the supply of both standard and complex products and services with new and existing suppliers. Apply critical skills and tactics to strategic negotiations for Domestic & Regulatory business as needed.
** Provide procurement strategy and leadership, drives implementation of Procurement strategy across Customer base, and work to incorporate global synergies to Commercial categories wherever possible, cross-SET and cross-category.
** Accountable for value targets from Category Management: Maintain a cost reduction, cost avoidance, cost containment program and reports it via the value database.
** Resolve contract differences with suppliers in accordance with SRM process and principles established with supplier, including those escalated from more junior procurement staff.
** Review and assist in revising procurement practices to ensure their conformance with established laws. Maintain appropriate level of administration around contracts and suppliers, e.g. contract database, equipment records and/or specifications.
** Leverage and adapt as appropriate Shasun Procurement processes and techniques
** Oversee the introduction of new and modified products and services with appropriate departments. Advise on the development of the appropriate sourcing approach based on the Category Strategy, analysis of forecasted spend data, relevant Supply Market data and understanding of business area to agree sourcing approach with customer.
** Research and provide forecasted data for future organization buying requirements to suppliers.
** Use appropriate methods and resources to develop and maintain market awareness, including current and future market conditions.
** Analyze and resolve issues raised in Procurement audit reports for preferred suppliers, etc.
** Manage risks, internal and external, and protect SHASUN’s intellectual property through the use of available SHASUN templates, processes and sourcing tools
** Lead and drive sourcing projects/category team projects across relevant business area
** Utilize relevant SHASUN procurement systems
** Comply with all regulatory and SHASUN requirements relevant to the role

Relationship Management:
** Customer Relationship Management:
** Acts as procurement point person for senior leaders within business
** Ensures integration of best practice across Commercial functions
** Work closely with key customers to:
** Understand customer priorities
** Agree sourcing plans and set expectations for effective value delivery
** Help the customer understand and engage with SHASUN procurement requirements
** Establish close relationship with Finance leaders and support within business, and work in conjunction with Account Management team to understand budgets and potential procurement impact and benefits.

Supplier Relationships Management:
** Develops internal and external relationships with suppliers, direct reports and cross-functional teams with regard to the following:
** Manage and develop lists of recommended sources and maintain strategic supplier management process across all categories for all preferred suppliers.
** Oversee the rationalization and selection of commercial suppliers that meet SHASUN’s business requirements at the optimal total cost.
** Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key commercial suppliers.
** Participate in supplier visits and evaluations to determine suitability for continued use and inclusion of new suppliers to preferred list based on business needs. Coordinate changes to the organization’s procurement, supply management and material usage policies within area of spend.
** Disseminate information and provide training related to procurement policies and procedures, and adapt and support technology enablement of opportunistic activities.
** Within area of accountability, act as a point of escalation for the review and response to supplier inquiries, protests and appeals.

People Management:
** Lead a Procurement team, establishing and communicating strategic direction, providing business context, coaching and direction to enable the team to meet its performance targets
** Ensure that direct reports leverage and operate in line with SHASUN Procurement tools, processes and policies Responsible for employee development, performance management and career guidance.
** Encourage external research, benchmarking, and involvement in professional networks as a means of strengthening capabilities via the adoption of purchasing profession best practices for Commercial spend.
** Promote compliance with SHASUN’s code of conduct, ensuring by personal example and coaching that SHASUN staff understand and practice ethical business behavior and use reasonable care to monitor suppliers and contractors working for SHASUN to ensure that they work in a manner consistent with the code.

Desired Candidate Profile:
** Advanced degree in Chemistry / Chemical / Pharma preferred
** 15 - 20 years from Pharma Industries.
** Sound Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Purchase.
** Exposure to guidelines like cGMP, ICH, USFDA is advantageous.
** Solid communication skills (oral and written) are required in order to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and various functional areas.
** Demonstrated experience interacting with internal/external and regulatory authorities.

Summary of Dissertation
INTRODUCTION

Synthesis of compounds containing, 3, 5-disubstituted- 1, 2, 4-oxadiazole (1, 2) scaffold is of interest because of their unique chemical structure and broad spectrum of biological properties. This class of compounds is found to be activators of capases and inducers of apoptosis, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, muscarinic agonist, Histamine H3 antagonist, anti-inflammatory agents antitumor and also therapeutically effective anticancer agents for various human cell lines, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s (PA) disease or Alzheimer’s disease
3,5-disustituted-1,2,4-oxadiazole unit represent a common non-classical bioisosteric replacement for ester moiety in as esters are often considered as poor drug candidates due to the presence of a large variety of esterase that drastically decrease both oral bioavailability and duration of biological action of the compound. 1, 2, 4-Oxadiazole fragment is stable to hydrolysis and can significantly improve pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of the drug candidates. 1, 2, 4-oxadiazole ring was shown to be vital for potency, suggesting specific interactions of the heterocyclic ring with biological targets.
It is also reported that nitrogen and sulfur containing heterocycles along with piperazine ring are used as antihistamines, antipsychotic , antidepressant and with thiazole ring as ant tubercular, antitumor and antifungal agents.
