“STUDY OF SHOCK RESPONSES ON A SUBSYSTEM OF SPACECRAFT”
Carried out at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Satellite Centre, Bangalore
Description : Shock is a one of the important vibration tool in designing of the spacecraft subsystem. The SRS is being analyzed for battery (subsystem) and its test setup by drop test, in which the different configurations are being configured. This includes the impact of carriage alone against test plate, impact of carriage carrying battery against test plate and impact of carriage carrying battery against shock machine. The shock response which is obtained upon impact is being validated. MSC DYTRAN is a flexible and predominant solver for solving the impact problems for shock analysis. And it was concluded that the more accurate results are obtained by modeling shock machine assembly and impacting the carriage assembly on to it.
B.E. PROJECT WORK :
“SPEED BREAKER MICRO TURBINE POWER GENERATOR”
Description : As the name suggests it involved the design and fabrication of a mechanical device that would use the energy from the road break shocks, produce reciprocating motion using piston and compressor arrangement and convert it into electrical energy with the help of micro turbine or dynamo. It was concluded that we could produce a clean and efficient mechanism, which would conserve energy and also be environmental friendly.

PROJECT UNDER TAKEN :
Name of the Project : Fabrication of Reciprocating pump by pedal operation.
Description :
The basic principle of our project is that the cylinder is actuated by the pedal operation. The rotating movement is converted into reciprocating movement by the U-shaped link which is attached to the smaller sprocket. When the plunger gets reciprocated, suction takes place during forward stroke. During the return stroke the water which is sucked in, is delivered through the outlet port. A check valve is provided in both inlet and outlet sides to prevent the flow of water into the cylinder during suction stroke from the outlet side and vice versa. This project aims at lifting water to a higher level using pedal operation.
Name of the project : Automated checking of CRE (Cumulative Radial Error) for the pinion shaft.
Description :
The main principle of this project is that when two gears are rotated in tight mesh without play against each other, under the influence of pressure that is applied in the direction of the radial centre distance, atleast one left and right gear flank of the two gears are meshing(double gear flank method). This causes variations in the radial centre distance as the gears rotate. This variation in the distance between the centres of the two gears, is the cumulating effect of errors like :
- Run out error in the gear blank
- Tooth cutting error
- Tooth profile error
- Surface finish error like nicks or scratches on the gear tooth
