December 2009 – March 2010 OPTIMIZATION AND PRODUCTIVITY RAISE OF TGS ASSEMBLY IN SANTRO CAR (EMXI)

Abstract:

To improve the productivity by resources utilization, reduced operation cost, lead time and maximize the profitability of this assembly to the company based on witness software. This involves analysis of problem in existing assembly process. Optimization of assembly layout and modification in the operation sequences.
Assembly cycle time was calculated based on sequence of operation. Various sequences are identified to reduce man power and cycle time. We have suggested a modified layout for uniform material flow by the usage of management analytical tools and assembly line balancing for reducing the complexity in the existing layout and it gives better efficiency.
In this project a jig was designed for assembly to reduce the operator fatigue, assured safety and to decrease the cycle time of the assembly in an effective ways.


December 2008 – April 2009 DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF PNEUMATIC HAMMER

Abstract:
A pneumatic hammer is basically a percussive tool used for producing an impact force and it is dependent on the supply pressure, which helps to adjust the stroke length of the working piston. This same pneumatic hammer cannot be operated at variable pressures, because it uses a spring for its retraction stroke. Hence, the pneumatic hammer performs impacts with substantially constant single-impact energy. High supply pressures increases the impact frequency. This results in a considerably improved efficiency at a high drilling capacity. This can be achieved by replacing the spring by pneumatic retraction of the hammer. By the use of single hammer, its impact force can be varied to certain extent, which cannot be achieved by the spring. This principle was used in the fabricated Pneumatic Hammer.
