Job Description:
Purpose of Job:
Supervise and coordinates the work as mechanical/static lead on capital project teams. Individual will apply leadership skills with technical knowledge in the design, application, and procurement of mechanical/static equipment. Individual will ensure the Mechanical/static Work Process Discipline (WPD) is used on capital projects to provide the design activities necessary for the construction and maintenance of process plants. Individual will provide technical support to others and is involved with the creation and maintenance of global specifications. Applies knowledge of mechanical/static equipment and systems, applicable codes and standards to ensure the most effective design in compliance with Dow Safety and Loss Prevention principles, industry standards and local codes and regulations is obtained.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Contribute to Dow’s EH&S vision by ensuring safety in design and compliance to Engineering Solution designs and work processes
- Ensures that environmental regulations and Dow Safety and Loss Prevention principles are considered in design.
- Mechanical/static lead for capital projects.
- Manage quality of deliverables, schedules, man-hour budgets, weekly/monthly status reporting, and effectively lead the mechanical/static project team.
- Creates technical mechanical specifications, & contract package. review/approve client specifications, prepare procurement inquiry packages, technically evaluate bids, and issue order packages for equipment, review and approval of vendor drawings/data
- Provide technical direction and lead the discipline team of mechanical/static engineers, designers, and modelers assigned to the project.
- Work closely with project engineer and procurement group for purchase of mechanical/static equipment.
- Coordinates the input of supplier design data into the overall project design.
- Coordinates additional discipline requirements into the design of equipment.
- Participates in equipment inspections and testing.
- Provides technical support during construction, commissioning, startup and operation of facility.
- Is involved with improvements to the work process.
- Participates in the development of global standards and specifications.
- Mentors other personnel in the application of design tools and work process methodology.

Desired Candidate Profile:
Job Requirements:
- Is a specialist in specific areas of Mechanical/static equipment design. Is a mentor to younger engineers.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and able to affectively communicate with other project team members, vendors and clients across cultures and geographies
- Experience in FEED/FEL and detailed engineering stages of capital projects
- Strong technical knowledge in detailed engineering and engineering for procurement rotating equipment like pumps, agitators, compressors, turbines and packaged equipment like cooling towers, boilers, HVAC, refrigeration systems, water treatment plants, flare system etc.
- Advanced knowledge of API standards, ASME, NFPA, ASHRAE, CTI and other mechanical /static engineering related industry standards
- Knowledge on specifying painting/ coating and insulation requirements is preferred
- Sound knowledge of general office tools like MS Office is required.
- Strong leadership and organization skills and a desire to excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Should have worked for at least 12 years in the field of detailed design and engineering of static/mechanical equipment for Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Chemical process plants out of which at least 5 years should be in a lead role
- Willingness to travel
- A graduate/post graduate in mechanical engineering

ES does the majority of new and major expansions of chemical facilities for Dow.
