Job Description:
The Geologist - Resource Evaluation will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for mineral resource studies for iron ore, coal and other commodities. Work will include geological interpretation, statistical and geostatistical analysis, grade estimation, resource estimation and classification, mine site support, contribution to feasibility studies, and technical audits. The position requires national and international travel to project sites.

- Ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
- Participate in preparation of fee estimates and bids.
- Work to ensure the implementation of safety standards
- Development of Scope’s of Work
- Ensure that project requirements of cost, quality and time are achieved
- Management of the establishment and maintenance of Engineering Work Package Plans (EWPPs).
- Works with his counterpart on the client’s team to ensure full, appropriate communication and co-ordination in the achievement of the project objectives

Desired Candidate Profile:
- M. Sc. in Applied Geology from a well reputed institution
- Ability to manage cost and timing associated with specific projects.
- Experience in iron ore and possibly other minerals covering all aspects of exploration, mine geology and resource evaluation. A strong background in geological mapping, drilling (Reverse Circulation and Diamond core), chip / core logging with lithological, structural and mineralisation parameters and sampling in all its varieties including bulk sample collection for pilot plant testing is desirable. At least two years should have been spent in computerised orebody modelling, geostatistics and resource estimation using Datamine, Surpac or other mining software. Knowledge of requirements of mineral resource reporting and codes such as JORC, SAMREC, NI 43101, UNFC and Russian would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in the use of industry standard mining software, MS Office suite, AutoCAD, GIS etc. will be highly regarded
- Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and a high level of initiative.
