Job Description 1. JOB DETAILS: Position Title: QC Inspector-Painting Reports to: Paints Manger Department: Painting Function: Job Code: Prepared / Revised on: 21/07/09 2. JOB PURPOSE: Ensure that necessary inspections are carried out as per the applicable specification for all the projects. Monitoring and checking the Blasting and Painting activities (prior/after) to ensure that the quality of workmanship is in accordance with the client?s specification, painting and blasting procedure and the SPCS. Verifies all equipments where Blasting/Painting were not necessary to be masked out. Monitor decreasing and High pressure fresh water wash to be carried out. Verifies weld spatter and all surfaces irregularities to be removed. Chloride Test to be carried out as per Standard (When required). Compressed air used for abrasive blasting to be checked as per Standard. Abrasive conductivity test to be carried out as per Standard (When required). Monitor air pressure and nozzle size of blasting equipment. Ambient condition and substrate temperature to be observed in every two hrs intervals Surface cleanliness to be verified using Standard. The surface to be blasted should be free from grease, oil and other contaminants. Anchor profile to be checked as per client?s requirement and SPCS. Monitor blow down of spent abrasives and materials. Dust contamination test has been carried out as per Standard (If required). Inspecting the coating application and wet film thickness. Monitor and ensure over coating intervals between each coat of paint. Check the paint drum (manufacture, paint name, batch number, batch certificate, expiry date etc?). Monitor and ensure the paint materials are storage in good condition. Verify after coating the required dry film thickness. Check coating curing test as per standard (When required). Monitor performance of Blaster and Painter at site. Raises NCR?s for non-conforming products. Raising punch lists for incomplete works. Check calibration of the equipment. Ensure that necessary inspections are carried out as per the applicable specification. Check that adequate and proper repair of all defects has been undertaken. Check paint/coating colour, appearances, and shade uniformity. Preparation of Inspection reports and Test reports. To perform Inspection activities in line with inspection procedures, HSE management system, maintenance and inspection policies. To reduce the inspection errors to less than 0.5 %. 5. JOB CONTEXT: Preparation of Painting / Coating Procedure Qualification Test (PPQT) and Blasters, Painters Qualification Test (BQT, PQT) Repair Procedure, Method statement, Test plan (ITP), Inspection Formats/Checklist, Reports and archiving of documentation for client handover and approval. 6. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: provides advice and assistance to supervisors and staff. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES
- Preparation, documentation and implementation of painting procedures, test plans
- Reviewing and approval of subcontractors method of statement and inspection test plans
- Holds pre-inspection meeting with concerned sub contractors painting supervisors and inspectors prior to the starting of any work to clarify inspection requirements, plans and procedures
- Conducts timely inspection meeting to resolve quality control problems and to discuss inspection schedule with the client and subcontractors
- Monitor and coordinate with sub contractor inspectors on the site regarding regular inspection, documentation & final hand over
- Coordinate the witness of inspection and tests with the client
- Implementation and preparation and review of all inspection reports and maintain them in a manner, which allows all personnel concerned access to results
- Ensure that Inspection work proceeds in accordance with Quality plan and inspection procedures agreed with the client.
- Preparation and Review of final documentation prior to submission to the client
