Job Description:
Primary objective
** To ensure that structural design integrity is not compromised while managing the structural department in the execution of the process.
** Lead all design /drafting activities relating to own discipline on assigned asset in conjunction with the Lead Discipline Engineer.
** Liaise with Design Services Coordinator on design / drafting issues.
Specific Accountabilities
- Overall supervision of structural engineers.
- Structural design integrity of work scope and maintenance of standards.
- Identify structural software necessary to enable structural group to function effectively.
- Check compliance with Alliance QA/safety/environment goals.
- Manage structural engineering design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
- Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
- Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
- Promote career development within the group.
- Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost effective facilities.
- Technical supervision of project designated structural designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duties.
- Benchmark structural design/drafting to identify areas of improvements.
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU, etc
- Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
- Demonstrate due diligence in managing hazards associated with design carried out for the Asset. Comply with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, WA.
- Evidence that reasonable steps are taken to identify and comply with applicable Standards and Codes. Hazards are identified systematically and managed effectively. For instance, common hazards are covered by checklists and checklists are used effectively.
- Assist Asset Team Leaders in promoting awareness of our obligations under OSH legislation in the design, manufacture and installation of plant.
- Ensure that the design team understand and apply quality management. Ensure design work conforms to the applicable specifications, codes & standards.
- Ensure that work is checked effectively before issue.
- Records of checking kept, showing effectiveness of check. No rework due to errors in design.
- Ensure that costs are effectively controlled on work assigned to design / drafting personnel within assigned team.
- Cost / budget KPIs for design work.
- Monitor design/drafting estimating norms within asset for own discipline. Overall coordination by DSC
- Evidence that norms are current and are used.
- Identify drafting and CAD initiatives to improve cost effectiveness of design / drafting work within own discipline in consultation with DSC.
- Evidence of initiatives developed and submitted for approval.
- Ensure that the level of design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks, achieving a good balance between design costs and implementation costs.
- Evidence of feedback from supervisors and/or superintendents that constructability issues are addressed adequately in design and that workpacks contain sufficient detail with no unnecessary content.
- Work within budget constraints set by Asset Team Leader/ Lead Discipline Engineer.
- Provide in-house training opportunities for design / drafting trainees – coordinated by DSC.
- Training records or evidence of competencies developed by trainees
- Work with the Design Services Coordinator in reassignment of personnel between asset teams or re-deployment to affiliated organisations .
- Record of successful reassignments.
- Assist Design Services Coordinator and Lead Discipline Engineer in the recruitment of design / drafting personnel
- Allocate design / drafting work to team members. Ensure that within assigned team, personnel work within their competencies and with appropriate supervision.
- Estimate cost, time and resource requirements for design / drafting work in cooperation with project engineers and Lead Discipline Engineer within asset.
- To act as Design Master Controller (DMC). To manage design documentation and drawings (Structural) for there Asset as per WEL procedures.
- Evidence that documents are registered, controlled, tracked and filed effectively – in accordance with procedures, using standard systems.
- Conduct site investigations, prepare reports
Essential Skills/Experience:
- TW Designer Competency Framework for relevant discipline
- Unit 1 – Draw and interpret sketch.
- Unit 2 – Interpret technical drawing.
- Unit 3 – Prepare basic engineering drawing.
- Unit 5 – Basic engineering detail drafting.
- Unit 6 – Advanced engineering detail drafting and checking.
- Unit 8 – Advanced structural detail drafting.
- Unit 9 - Create 2D drawings using computer aided design system.
- Unit 10 – Create 3D drawings using computer aided design system.
- Level 6 in a majority of the performance criteria for a majority of the elements in each unit, with performance demonstrated within the Oil & Gas industry. Offshore or onshore experience is required as appropriate for the relevant asset.
- Competency at level 6 involves substantial depth across a number of areas. Evidence is expected of significant judgment in design, technical and supervisory functions related to services, operations or processes. At level 6 competencies are applied with limited guidance.
- Evidence is also expected of responsibility and defined accountability for the management and output of work of others.
- Fifteen years industry related experience . Five years in the oil and gas industry. Three years supervisory experience. Three years construction experience.
- Relevant approved certificate form a state or technical education department or equivalent.
- Unit 3 - Establish & manage effective workplace relationships.
- Unit 10 - Facilitate and capitalise on change and innovation.
- Level 4 in a majority of the elements in each unit.
- Unit 1 - Manage work priorities and professional development.
- Unit 5 - Manage operations to achieve planned outcomes.

- Unit 2 - Provide leadership in the workplace.

Dear sir
I am a civil engineer . i have completed my diploma in civil engineering in 2009. i have 3.5 years of expirience in Site execution, Billing, Planning & Quality control. my current CTC is 3.84 lac.per annum and Expected CTC is upto 4.8 lac per annum. Can i get job in worleyparsons? Is my qualiifcation applicable in this company?
