    Job Description
    Purpose of this position:
    (a) To develop and implement local, community-led research on applied animal welfare, clinical & non-clinical action researches, clinical research projects;
    (b) To increase Brooke staff profile and publication output in the scientific world within country and internationally;
    (c) To coordinate and support a team of welfare assessors and risk assessors.

    Key tasks:
    - Liaise with UK-based Research Coordinator to develop sound, small-scale scientific projects - arising from community questions or clinical need.
    - Work with Community Development Manager and local staff to plan and implement community-led scientific projects, test risk-based interventions and disseminate research results.
    - Work Corporate Quality Assurance Manager (CQAM) to implement small-scale, need driven clinical and behavioral trials.
    - Advise and assist Brooke and partnership staff in data analysis and writing for publication.
    - Increase Brooke and partners- profile in the field of animal welfare through participatory action research within the local and international scientific community. Integrating research with field activities/implementation processes.
    - Coordinate with Welfare and Risk Assessors and link the implementation activities with research outcomes

    Other Duties:
    He/she will be required to help Information Officer and Documentation Officer in preparing useful documents, cases, and incidents by providing appropriate timely information.
    The Brooke India Field Office in Ghaziabad, with extensive travel within India operational sites, and potential for international travel.

    Desired Candidate Profile
    Qualification, Key skills and experience:
    Essential
    - Doctoral degree/PhD
    - Proven evidences of conducting Participatory Research/PAR with poor communities within the country.
    - Previous experience of planning and carrying out scientific experiments under field conditions
    - Previous experience of planning and carrying out specific clinical research in field
    - Previous experience of working with communities to plan and gather data, disseminating results of studies affecting communities, integrating research into community projects, etc.
    - Record of successful publication at national and preferably international level, and presentation at conferences
    - An ability to travel and work independently
    - Excellent written and spoken English
    - Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    - Excellent computer knowledge
    Advantageous
    - A good understanding in community empowerment and participatory methodologies
    - Qualification in animal welfare science, and knowledge of ethics relating to animal use
    - Experience of working in animal based projects
