Job Description : Handling of Soil Testing Laboratory as well as Agrilcultural Field.
Achievement :
o Cost ratio was maximum (3.42) with the application of recommended dose of fertilizers in combination with broad based furrows. Additional yield of 113kg seed cotton and 54kg of pigeon pea grain per hectare over the farmer practice was obtained by adding recommended dose of fertilizers.
o Green manuring (Sunhemp) as an intercrop in cotton and mulching it at the time of first intercultural operation is the best method for conserving the soil moisture and helpful as a fertilizer for improving the quality and yield of crop. Contribution of reduced tillage in combination with green manure incorporation was 43 kg of seed cotton and 59.9 kg pigeon pea grain.
o Under application of Weedicide (pendametheline) AT 120ml/10lit. to control various weeds before cotton sowing was recommended.
o Balanced fertilizer technology was developed, application of recommended dose of NPK; inclusion of secondary nutrients and micronutrients on Zn deficient soils
o Zn application AT 20-25 kg / ha once in 3 years along with recommended doses of NPK. In case of S deficiency application of 25 kg / ha along with RDF.
o Foliar K (two spray at flowering and boll formation) is recommended in the rainfed cotton growing areas of central and south India Benefits were more in the year receiving less than normal rainfall in areas.
o Location specific INM strategies were developed. FYM, phospo-compost, poultry manure, green manure, composted coir can be integrated into the INM practices and have been found to be as effective as the recommended INM.
o The improved nutrient interventions (balanced fertilization technology) were demonstrated on farmers fields and were found to be superior to the existing farmers practice.
