Job Description:

Management of clinical endpoint studies / Pharmacokinetic studies in patient populations, conducted in India for Bioclinical Development, Apotex Inc.

Coordinates and oversees aspects of clinical studies for the development of new generic products, including, but not limited to: Feasibility Assessments, Request for Proposal, Vendor identification and selection recommendations, Contract negotiations and Ongoing project management.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with the study protocol and the validity of data generated in clinical studies in India.

Liaise with the Clinical Development Unit (CDU), Bioclinical Development in the conduct/monitoring of the study.
Desired Candidate Profile:

Clinical Study Responsibilities :

Conduct clinical program feasibility assessments in India.

CRO Selection – identify vendors with relevant experience for conduct of clinical endpoint studies / Pharmacokinetic studies in patient population

Participates in the vendor selection process through the development & completion of request for proposals (RFP), and soliciting responses from vendors

Participate in negotiation and management the of external vendor contracts including budget negotiation with vendors (CRO’s, Central labs, clinical sites, other vendors as required for the study)

Leads the set up and execution of complex, mulitcentre trials with time frames of 12 to 24 months.

Provide oversight to ongoing clinical trials in India (all CRO activities, site activities including recruitment.

Plan and participate in Investigator meetings.

Conduct site feasibility visits, co-Monitoring visits.

Ensure completion of studies within time lines and budgets

Provide support to development of vendor and site quality audit program for India.

Provide support for regulatory inspections for clinical studies in India.

Abstract:
The thesis submitted for the Ph.D degree incorporates the finding on Oxidative stress affecting liver and kidney on the exposure to a trimetallic combination of Cadmium, Chromium and Nickel. Such an evaluation is precisely done to the promise that no individual is exposed to a single metal as environmental pollutant and to the fact that these three metals are found in high concentration in vegetables and food grains as well as in water in Vadodara. Apart from assessing the oxidative damage to the tissues by relevant assays of Glutathione, Glutathione Reductase, Glutathione Peroxidase, Catalase, Superoxide Dismutase, Hydrogen Peroxide generation, Total Nitric Oxide generation and lipid peroxidaton. The predisposition to induction of diabetes on exposure to diabetogenic agent and insulin levels are also evaluated. The toxicity evaluations also involve pathophysiological alterations and possible induction of stress proteins.
In vitro studies on two liver cell lines, one cancerous HepG2 and other normal liver cell line Chang cell line, have been done to show generation of Reactive Oxygen Species and mitochondrial membrane potential by fluorescent dyes been done, also the apoptotic detection of the islets by TUNNEL assay and DNA fragmentation by Agarose Gel.
Since industrialization cannot be totally removed and we have to live with metal toxicants protection/amelioration would be a meaningful for lessening the impact of metal toxication. In keeping with the promise the study has successfully evaluated the protective effect of the natural antioxidant of the body, melatonin on oxidative stress/damage as well as in resisting the diabetogenic predisposition in metal exposed animals.

Project Description : The aim of study was to investigate the causes of anaemia and to compare the efficacy and safety of two doses of sodium feredetate with ferrous fumarate in improving haemoglobin profile in anaemic pregnant women with gestation period between 12 and 26 weeks having serum haemoglobin < 10 g/dl were included in the study.
