Brief Description : There is 800 TR cooling tower at one of our solvent recovery systems through which water is pumped to heat exchangers. There are two pumps of capacity 450 m3/hr, 50 m head each. But I found that the system head is only 30 m including frictional loss due to which pump was drawing more power. Therefore I have suggested trimming the impeller of the pump to an extent that matches the system head of 30 m based on characteristic curves of the pump. By doing so we were able to save Rs.7 Lakh per annum.
- I have successfully taken trials of Agitated nutsche filter and dryer (ANFD) for some of our products being in a team and replaced centrifuges and driers by ANFDs. By doing so we have achieved :
1. Reduction in manpower
2. Reduction of solvent loss during filtration and drying
3. Reduction of environmental pollution due to solvent vapors emerging during the conventional centrifugal filtration and drying

Manufacturing of Para Bromo Toluene from Toluene (B-tech thesis) :
Para bromo toluene belongs to class of aromatics, which is brominates form of toluene. Its main purpose is production of P-bromo benzaldehyde, which is used as a selective herbicide. There are many methods of manufacturing P-bromo toluene (i.e. nuclear bromination of toluene catalyzed by Rose Bengal, bromination of trimethylsilyl toluene). The method I have used in manufacturing of P-bromo toluene is done through Gas phase halogenations and catalyst used is zeolite bed. The process which is used in my project is much more reliable, because the yield of the product is more when compare to other processes.

Presented a paper in S.V University on chemical vapor deposition of molybdenum (CHEMOSPHERE 2K7). (Have secured third place for the presentation)
