Position and job description
1) Equate petrochemicals company, Kuwait (DOW technology)
Since - 2007, I have been working in EQUATE Petrochemicals Co as an Operation technologist and assumed SU/SD coordinator role in EO/EG plant. EQUATE is joint venture of Dow Chemicals Co, USA(erstwhile Union Carbide Corporation) and PIC of Kuwait.
I was involved in successful commissioning of 600 000 Mt/yr of Ethylene Glycol unit with highly advanced process control automation system of DCS Experion of Honeywell supplied with Triconex for emergency shutdown system (ESS). The present plant utilizes the modern control concept of “STEP based” control system. This is being used in the first and the only EO-MEG plant in DOW owned or joint venture plant.
Apart from normal shift operation the following roles are assumed :
1) Immediate response leader, 2) EH&S coordinator, 3) Start up and shutdown coordinator
As an immediate response leader : taken care of plant emergencies. In all emergencies, IRL is the leader to take care of the emergency. As an IRL taking care of the manpower and operating procedures for emergencies.
As an EH&S coordinator : taking care of all shift EH&S requirements. Also taking care of Permit conditions, safety requirements, confined space and hot work requirements, AICR and QIR immediate actions, Following up of the safety equipments (e.g., LEL detectors etc.,).
As a Start up and shutdown coordinator : Working with the Plant personnel and Expertise Centers to coordinate Operational activities associated with Shutdowns and Startups. Reviewing Operating Discipline to ensure procedures are adequate. Preparing special procedures that are required for SU/SD.

- The designated operation includes LNG train, SRU/ Fractionation, utilities and inlet receiving/storage and loading.

1. Monitors via terminals and alarms, the operations of the designated area and coordinates process activities according to instruction received and production requirements. Includes continuous monitoring of instruments and equipment, making field adjustments according to process parameters as required.

3. Maintains continuous liaison with other panel operators to coordinate the required supplies according to production conditions.
4. Alters operating condition or products flows to allow prior isolation of equipment for maintenance and re-commences operations according to procedures, following completion of maintenance.
