Job Description:
Based in India and reporting to the Asia Group General Counsel, the ideal candidate will provide a range of in-house legal services to business units across the company, including India and SE Asia countries.
The ideal candidate will be involved in drafting and reviewing documents and contracts, establishing standard forms of agreement and handling internal control and risk management related matters.

Desired Candidate Profile:
The suitable candidate will be a general commercial or litigation lawyer with at least 15 years’ post qualification experience gained in-house or within a private practice. India qualification is required for this position and qualification in other SE Asia countries will be highly advantageous. Candidates with experience in the Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power & Energy sector will be preferred.

Counsel is slightly more broad and has a very straightforward definition in my Australian Legal Dictionary : someone who advocates before a court. This means counsel can include barristers. Also in common law systems we often say Counsel for the defendant which means the legal representation all the lawyers, barristers, in-house counsel etc of the defendant, everyone involved. You wouldnt usually say, in a formal, legal context, the lawyers for the defendant in this case. Puedes explicarte en español si algo no te queda claro.
Edit : Notice how counsel can be uncountable, i.e. Counsel for the defendant not Counsels for the defendant but you can also say he is senior counsel senior representative, usually barrister Lawyer is countable so you would say The lawyers for the defendant.
Further edit : You would never use counsel to describe someones job. "He is a lawyer/barrister" but not He is counsel - this is used to describe what someone is doing in a trial not to describe their profession generally.
