* RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Worked as a research associate for 12127 trial of ANRS (Agence nationale de recherches sur le sida, i.e. National Agency for AIDS Research, France). The project was titled ‘Prenahtest Project’ (prenatal HIV testing). This was a Multi-country trial to evaluate public health impact of couple oriented counselling in low and medium HIV prevalence countries. This was taken up by Prayas Health Group, Pune, In collaboration with ISPED, France. In the preparatory phase of the ANRS 12127 Prenahtest trial, the project assessed the acceptability of couple-oriented post-test HIV counseling (COC) and men’s involvement within prenatal care services, among pregnant women, male partners and health care workers in Cameroon, Dominican Republic, Georgia and India.
Now the impact of COC with impact of standard post test counseling is being compared to understand the impact in terms of outcome indicators such as partner HIV testing, couple counseling, condom use and couple communication. The follow-up data is collected till 6 months after delivery of women –participating.
