Job Description:
Partner with merchant team to develop and implement technical solutions to support our textile/garment business.
Good understanding of technical requirements -garment fit, construction ,workmanship for various retail markets , and ability to orientate the suppliers on the same.
Provide technical solutions to ensure right first time sampling before commencement of production ..
Communicate issues and solutions to retail, sourcing, merchants .
Reduce defective rates during production by fixing the non-conformities during sampling stage.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of sampling - fit, construction, workmanship to meet retail requirements.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Degree holder in textile or /with garment manufacturing specialization would be an added advantage .
Must have at least 10 years relevant experience in garment manufacturing technology with preferably knowledge of pattern-making and sewing
Practical knowledge of fabric characteristics, processing, performance parameters is a must ..
Analytical and problem solving capability with an ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.
Strong communication & interpersonal skills, ability to work and communicate effectively at different levels
Hands on, team player, passionate, enthusiastic
Trustworthy and credible, proactive & able to work on own initiative

During this time I liaised closely with customers ensuring that specification, lead times, current and future work were up to the required specification and standard. Also, when new production lines were set up that all methods and quality control systems were correctly enforced. I was also responsible for the Cutting Department and Work Study which played an important part in the production and quality control
1970 1986 Production Manager : S R Gent plc (Rotherham)
I started my career with S R Gent at 16 as a trainee machinist and was quickly promoted to the position of Production Supervisor at 18 years. My duties included the efficient running of a production line of 14 machinists ensuring that all production was up to standard and ensuring that all target figures and dates were achieved. It was also my responsibility to ensure that machinery was maintained at all times and that call-off dates were met.
After five years at the age of 23, I was further promoted to the position of Production and Quality Manager, responsible for 5 production lines. In this capacity, I worked closely with the Marks and Spencer garment technologist, setting up new styles and ensuring that all machinery was correctly set up, correct thread types used and garments measured up to specification on all trial lays/pilots.
