Intuit's Accountant Professionals Division's (APD) is looking for a talented and experienced architect to join their Architecture Team. The Accountants Professional Division is a very successful business that enjoys market leadership with tax and accounting offerings. As part of the Architecture Team, you will be joining a talented team of architects working closely with business leaders to provide the leadership and technology assets needed to dramatically accelerate our business strategy and drive growth.

Our Architects have a passion to create software products which exceed our customer's expectations. They are responsible for the overall quality of one or more coherent bodies of technology (architectures) created and maintained by a team of engineers and providing overall technical leadership to that team. We define quality as the degree to which the technology supports Intuit's short and long term business objectives for that technology. Technical leadership includes all aspects of the team's engineering efforts but does not include direct management responsibilities.

The individual we are seeking is an experienced software architect who has played a key leadership and change agent role in an organizational transformation that included major technology and methodology changes as part of delivering new services and offerings to market. Candidates must have experience delivering web based solutions that are highly scalable, reliable and available. Ideal candidates would have a deep knowledge of the tax and accounting domains, and experience building offerings that are part of larger integrated suite of offerings composed from shared technology assets provided by other teams or organizations.

- Play a key role in developing products and driving the technology strategy.

- Provide technical leadership & drive the planning and implementation of APD’s Architectural Strategy at multiple levels (strategy through realization).

- Collaborate with Product Management and Product Development leaders in developing product visions and strategies.

- Effectively collaborate with architects and Product Development Leaders across APD and Intuit.

- Participate in/lead all aspects of product development as needed, from requirements analysis to product release.

- Mentor and coach engineers and work with Product Development Leaders on development plans.

Desired Candidate Profile:
Required skills and experience:

- 10+ years of experience designing and building applications.

- 5+ years java/J2EE software development professional experience

- 5+ Experience with OO analysis, design and implementation

- 5+ years technical leadership and mentoring teams of software developers

- Experience working with remote US based product development teams. Past working experience in USA preferred.

- Leadership experience in specifying, designing, developing and implementing enterprise-class, web-based Java systems

- Demonstrated ability to produce designs for robust software, and to carry through with their execution

- Familiarity with a formal software development methodology

- Helpful, can-do attitude and a willingness to take ownership of problems

- Desire to learn

- Fluency with the Unified Modeling Language


Preferred skills and experience:

- 3+ years C++/C# software development professional experience

- 3+ years Delphi software development professional experience

- Portlets and WSRP

- Familiarity with UML modeling tools

- Familiarity with using use cases and user stories to capture requirements and drive development

- BS Computer Science or similar degree preferred

- Background with financial and income tax processing
