Job Description:
To prepare transformer design manual.
To provide analysis, calculation, formula and program on electrical & mechanical design of distribution and power transformers up to 500kV and special transformer.
To analyze and improve current MTM electrical design software and if necessary to propose new design software and tools.
To conduct cost analysis study and to optimize MTM current electrical & mechanical design.
To conduct training resulted in transferring the skill and knowledge to MTM design personal on design calculation, formula and application of new design software and tools.
To conduct training resulted in transferring the skill and knowledge to MTM design and testing personal on transformer diagnostic tools and life assessment technique.
To provide guidance to MTM design personal especially for problem solving.
To conduct study and analysis of transformer electrical & mechanical design failure.

Desired Candidate Profile:
Experience in electrical & mechanical design of distribution up to 45 kV, power transformer up to 275kV/500kV and/or special transformer.
Good experience & knowledge in transformer diagnostic tools and life assessment technique * eg. Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) and Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) interpretations.
Good experience & knowledge in transformer failure investigation and analysis.
Good experience & knowledge in Finite Element Analysis Software for short circuit reactance, losses calculation and etc.
Good experience & knowledge in Heat Transfer Analysis and Wave/Impulse Transient Program.
Good experience & knowledge in transformer manufacturing processes and procedures.
Experience in Visual Basic or other design software tools.
Knowledgeable in current transformer design development and practices.
Member of any international committee or have published journal/paper on transformer electrical design is an added advantage.
Familiar with international standard. e.g. IEC, IEEE.
Able to travel to site for site inspection and consultation
A self-starter and able to work under minimum supervision.
Able to organize and coordinate multiple projects in a timely manner.
Proficient in English.
Candidate's age should not be more than 55yrs.

Hello,
I can do this job for you since I travel between India and USA as a consultant. I have 35 years of experience designing and quoting large power transformers for GE, Westinghouse and ABB. After retirement I was a consultant for Bechtel in USA and travelled to most transformer factories around the world to perform design reviews, core and coil inspection, factory audits and witness testing. Range of tranformers in my experience is from 23kV to 765KV. My last assingment in India was a consultant to EMCO transformer factory in Thane, India where my role was to take responsibility for design, manufacture and testing of their first 400kv power transformer. The transformer passed all tests the first time and was shipped to the customer with no problem.
