Project Description:
The objective is to develop a system that is used to simulate the arrival and servicing of ‘N’ Customers by a single server or a multi server Queuing Systems. The project focuses on developing simulation methods for the SS-SQ system and MS-SQ where POISSON, EXPONENTIAL, NORMAL DISTRIBUTIONS etc govern the arrival and service patterns of the entities in the system. We considered the important parameters in a queuing system like the
- The arrival pattern of the customers or the frequency distribution of inter arrival times
- The number of servers
- The queuing discipline like FIFO(QUEUE), LIFO( STACK) etc.
Using modulo congruential random number generation technique we simulated arrival and service patterns in the real world problems and then use these variates to compute various statistics such as departure times, waiting times spent by the entities in the system.
The term ‘simulation’ was used to describe any procedure establishing a model and deriving a solution numerically. Simulation can be understood as a basic idea to model the given system by means of some equations and determine its time dependant behavior. We generated Random numbers and using certain simulating expressions like exponential distribution the waiting time and queue length are calculated.
