Job Description:
This is a leadership position for steering the activities of GIAN-North at Jaipur. (see http://north.gian.org/). The CIM is supposed to prepare business plans for GIAN-North and mobilize resources for innovators and traditional knowledge holders whose creativity is incubated through GIAN. Familiarity with the concept of incubation and experience in some aspects of converting innovation into enterprises will be necessary.
The Tasks include:
- Coordination with government, NGOs, financial institutions, Honey Bee network collaborators other scouts and collaborators, venture funds etc. on the one hand and grassroots innovation the other (for information about the Honey Bee Network see www.sristi.org and a innovations awardees see www.nifindia.org).
- Build linkages of innovators with design and technology institutions, pursue market research develop business plans, file patents where ever relevant, raise financial resources for innovator to convert the innovation into a product and product into enterprise, help in licensing technologies or help the innovator to become an entrepreneur and strengthen linkages students for possible contribution in design and technology institutes.
- The CIM has to excel in one of the fields of the value chain and be responsible for the effective discharge of responsibilities with the understanding heat innovators will have to be provided the support at their doorstep. Business development background will be specially preferred.
- The CIM has to lead by setting an example; the team will be small-two more senior managers, product development and market development will assist the CIM.
Compensation
Rs. 20,000 to 30,000 consolidated per month with no other allowances.
General Instructions:
1. Position is for a Contractual tenure for one or two year/ and extendable on satisfactory performance.
2. Position is for Jaipur but may require relocation.
3. Position required intensive traveling to the area of its operation i.e. Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttrakhand, Delhi and Chandigarh.
4. Women candidates/or from SC/ST/OBC categories/handicapped / Ex-servicemen are encouraged to apply.
5. Employees of Government/Semi Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertaking / Autonomous bodies must apply through proper channel or produce “No Objection Certificate” at the time of the interview.
6. GIAN-N reserves the right to raise experience level or use other criteria to restrict the number of candidates called for interview.
7. Deserving candidates may be offered higher start of pay within the specified range.
8. GIAN-N may recruit professionals through selection or search process
Desired Candidate Profile:
The incumbents for Chief Innovation Manager (CIM) position should have at least Post graduate in engineering/Agriculture/ Allied field. Professionals with MBA degree / diplomas or related degrees with experience in business development with a strong entrepreneurial approach may apply. The incumbents should have minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a leadership position in dealing with development at grassroots level in augmenting technological innovations on one hand and liaison with government officials at senior level.
