Job Description:
Role: The Head – Fundraising will build an increasing, diversified, network of supporters who believe in the work of HealthFirst India and provide funds to meet current and future needs. In addition, he or she will be responsible for establishing and promoting the brand HealthFirst India, and raising awareness about the organisation’s work in the public.
Reports to:
Director – GLRA / Swiss Emmaus-India
Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement and monitor a fundraising strategy
- Develop a fundraising strategy that includes yearly targets to meet the costs of the current and future programmes;
- Develop annual work plans based on the approved strategy and prepare income and expenditure budgets for each fundraising initiative;
- Approach and raise funds from individuals, companies and trusts and foundations within India;
- Ensure that fundraising activities are in line with the organization’s goals;
- Produce communication materials in support of fundraising such as brochures, appeals, newsletters and annual reports;
- Ensure that communication materials are in consistent style that reflect the values of the organization;
- Engage the Board on the fundraising activities as per request
- Engage heads of other departments and regional offices in fundraising initiatives;
- Raise awareness of the organization and its work at state and national levels;
- Monitor income and expenditure against budgets and the targets.
2. Implement fundraising initiatives to raise resources from individuals, companies, trusts and foundations
- Develop creative and appropriate fundraising activities in line with the overall strategy to tap funds from identified sources;
- Conduct research into potential donors – trusts, foundations, companies and high net worth individuals – and find a match with donors whose philanthropic or funding criteria match the organization’s vision and activities;
- Implement a corporate fundraising strategy by identifying, building relationships with and securing sponsorship of costs and events, adoption of programmes, cause-related marketing and employee giving and matched giving from employers;
- Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising;
- Liaise with agencies that facilitate fundraising initiatives such as printers, mailing agents, data providers, volunteers and others;
- Be a spokesperson for the organization and deal with the media.
3. Build and enhance a constituency of well-wishers and supporters
- Develop, manage and update databases to record donor contact and preference information;
- Develop a strategy for communicating with different kinds of donors;
- Ensure timely, appropriate and quality communication to all donors;
- Monitor and evaluate donor communications on a regular basis;
- Grow one-time donors into repeat donors, and into long-term supporters by constantly finding ways to increase their engagement with the organization’s work.
4. Build and manage a fundraising and communication team
- Budget staff requirement for implementing the approved fundraising strategy;
- Recruit, train personnel and assign roles and tasks to team members;
- Set annual targets and help each team member develop personal work plans towards these targets;
- Provide motivation and guidance to the team;
- Identify training needs of each person, and ensure training;
- Have regular team meetings;
- Ensure annual evaluations for team members.
5. Coordinate with the Director in the planning and execution of the fundraising strategy
- Develop strategy and policy objectives for the fundraising department in consultation with the Director;
- Alert the Director of any existing, or potential situation which is or could be a threat to the organization;
- Contribute to the formulation of policy proposals – for example, in relation to ethics – for consideration by the Board;
- Assist the Director in exchanging information on various fundraising techniques with other fundraising teams of GLRA and Swiss Emmaus.
6. Serve as a member of the senior management team of the organization
- Participate in discussions of policy and share fully in the work of the organization as a member of the management team;
- Be aware of programme activities, information and statistics;
- Participate in the review of personnel policy and practice;
- Participate in recruitment as required;
- Establish and develop relationships between partners and associates.

Desired Candidate Profile:
(1) Experience in fund raising/ marketing preferably with social causes
(2) Knowledge of Direct Marketing, Organising, Fund raising events and corporate Fund raising
(3) Good Communication Skills
(4) Knowledge of Computer Applications
(5) Facilitation and interpersonal skills
(6) Ability to work in team mode
(7) High financial integrity
(8) Ability to travel extensively, based on the needs of the job.
