Autumn Semester 2014-15
Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D Programmes for the Autumn Semester 2014-15.
Eligibility:
A candidate is eligible for registration for Ph.D if he/she satisfies the following conditions:
A Master’s degree in the concerned or an allied subject with a minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.A. greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) or a minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.A greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) at Bachelors level with at least 55% marks at Master’s level.
Desirable: GATE score/NET/SET.
List of broad areas of research in Ph.D. Programme are listed below department wise;
1.Mechanical Engg. :Heat Transfer
2. Civil Engg. : Transportation Engineering, Soil stabilization and ground improvement techniques.
3. Chemistry : Total Synthesis of Bioactive Natural Products, Development of New Methodology Reactions, Medicinal Chemistry, Membrane based methods in Separation Science: Synthesis, Characterization & Application.
4. Mathematics : Computational Mechanics/Fracture in Smart Materials, Propagation of Non-linear Waves/Hyperbolic System of Conservation Laws/Shock Waves, Molecular Dynamic/Mathematical Biology, Optimization, Swarm Intelligence, Evolutionary Algorithms
5. Social Sciences (Sociology & Economics) : Urban Sociology, Economic Sociology, Demography, Sociology of Education, Development Economics
6. English : Twentieth Century Literary Criticism, Continental Literature, Literature of the Indian Diaspora, Postcolonial Literature, Twenty First Century Travel Narratives, Film & Fiction
Selection Procedure: The eligible candidates will be called for written test. The candidates qualified in written test will be required to appear for interview on the same day. The shortlisted candidates for written test will be uploaded on our website
How to Apply:
i) The application form and other relevant information for admission to Ph.D. program can be downloaded from the Institute website
ii) Applications form, duly filled in along with DD of Rs. 500/-, issued by any nationalized bank, in favor of Director, NIT Uttarakhand, payable at Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand with all the documents mentioned below should reach to
Asst. Registrar (Academic),
NIT Uttarakhand
on or before 25/09/2014.
The following documents (whichever applicable) arranged in the order given below should be enclosed along with the duly filled application;
i) Self-attested copy of 10th class certificate.
ii) Self-attested copy of Under-Graduate degree certificate and mark sheet.
iii) Self-attested copy of Post-Graduate degree certificate and mark sheet.
iv) Self-attested copy of GATE score card or CSIR/ UGC-NET fellowship.
v) Self-attested copy of provisional certificate of the last qualifying examination (If original not obtained).
vi) Print out of all the publications (if any).
vii) Self-attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates from the competent authority (not below the rank of SDO/SDM/DC/DM/Tahsildar)
viii) Self-attested copy of caste certificate in case of OBC candidate from competent authority (not below the rank of SDO/SDM/DC/DM/Tahsildar) indicating the status regarding non Creamy layer (NCL) for the financial year ending 31st March 2013.
ix) Self-attested copy of teaching/research experience certificate (if any)
x) No Objection Certificate (NOC) and other documents from the employer (in case of Sponsored Research Scholar) in support of your application.
xi) Profile of the organization/ employer in case of SRS category candidate
xii) Self-attested copy of credentials including AICTE recognized short-term courses attended, research publications, professional qualifications etc.
