Online Counselling 2014 :
Important Announcement about IMU's Online Counselling 2014 :
1. From 2014 onwards, IMU has switched over to Computer-based (Online) CET and also to Online Counselling so that all the candidates need not come to Chennai physically for the Counselling which, in the past, caused hardship to candidates.
2. Candidates will be required to choose online the Programme(s) and also IMU Campuses/Affiliated Institutes that they would like to join. Only the names of Affiliated Institutes which have surrendered a part or whole of their seats to IMU’s Counselling will figure in the Counselling.
3. The candidate must first pay a Counselling Fee/Admission Registration Fee of Rs.10,000 (non-refundable) to IMU in the manner prescribed before he can choose his Programmes/Colleges online.
4. The allotment of candidates to a Programme/College will be done automatically based on (i) his rank in the CET, (ii) his community, (iii) his choices of Programmes and Colleges, and (iv) the availability of seats. The allotment will be done and Admission Letter issued only after the last date for Online Counselling is over.
5. The Admission Letter issued will be strictly provisional and subject to verification of his original documents and his medical fitness. The candidate will be directed to the nearest IMU Campus or designated Institute for such verification.
6. Once the original documents are verified and medical fitness is established, the candidate will be required to pay the (non-refundable) Programme Fee of Rs.25,000/Rs.27,500 (as applicable) to IMU, after which the provisional letter of admission will be affixed with a seal with the words “Admission Confirmed” and attested by an IMU functionary.
7. The rest of the fees shall be paid at the College (IMU Campus / Affiliated Institute) in which the candidate got admission at the time of joining.
8. If the candidate who is issued the provisional Admission Letter does not report for verification of his original documents and confirmation of his medical fitness within the time prescribed, then the candidate shall forgo his seat allotment and forfeit the Counselling Fee/Admission Registration Fee. If, after his admission is confirmed, the candidate fails to join the College allotted within the time prescribed, the candidate shall forgo his seat allotment and forfeit not only the Counselling Fee/Admission Registration Fee but also the Programme Fee already paid.
9. It is hoped that the Online Counselling 2014 will be a success as it is convenient to candidates and is fair and transparent to the Colleges. But if, for any reason, all the seats are not filled up through Online Counselling, IMU reserves the right to hold another round of Counselling for the residuary seats which may be either Online Counselling (Supplementary) or Physical Counselling at one or more centres of its choice for the benefit of candidates who may not have applied earlier. However, such late applicants cannot lay any claim to seats in better Programmes/Colleges at this stage even if their ranks are better than those who have been already allotted the seats through Online Counselling because they are deemed to have forgone their claims by their conduct of not applying for Online Counselling in time, and they shall be considered for the residuary seats only.
10. The decisions of IMU in respect of Counselling and Admissions shall be final.
11. Legal disputes, if any, pertaining to Counselling and Admission matters shall fall within the jurisdiction of Chennai Courts only.

1. Please go through IMU Academic Brochure 2014 carefully to satisfy yourself that you are eligible for admission to the programme of your choice based on age, qualification, community, medical fitness etc...
2. Please study the Admissions 2014 Seat Matrix to get an idea of number of seats available in IMU Campus / Affiliated Institution wise and Programme wise. You will then be able to decide your priorities in terms of Programmes and Institutes.
3. Please pay Rs. 10,000 at the nearest State Bank of India Branch towards Admission Registration / Counselling fee by downloading SBI Challan from here.
4. The bank will retain one copy of the Challan and give the remaining three copies of the Challan - two copies of which are meant for the University and one for yourself.
5. Please scan the University copies of the Challan and retain the digital image for future use.
6. The last date for submission of Online Counselling Option Form is extended to Monday 28th July 2014. The web page link for the Online Counselling Option Form will not be available beyond the last date and option form in any other format will not be entertained beyond the last date. Online entries once made can be modified not more than two times thereafter before the last date stated above.
7. Online Counselling Option Form must be complete in all respects; all incomplete option forms will be rejected.
8. Indian Maritime University will not be responsible for any delay or non-receipt of the Acknowledgment or Provisional Allotment Letter by email.

Online entries once made can be modified not more than two times thereafter before the last date stated above.
