SSB recruitment 2010, Sashastra Seema Bal : Constable Driver

SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL
Applications are invited from male Indian citizens who fulfill the following eligibility criterion
for filling up the vacancies in the rank of Constable Driver in the pay scale of Rs. 5200-20200 in the
grade pay of Rs.2000/- and other allowances admissible to Central Govt. employees from time to time
in “Sashastra Seema Bal”. The last date of receipt of application is 30-08-2010.

1. Note The post is temporary but likely to become permanent. The number of
vacancies is subject to change.
2 Place of duty:-Any where within as well as outside the Territory of India.
3 (A) Age:
i) 18 to 28 years ( Cut off date for age will be 1st August,2010)
ii) Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST by 5 years and 3 years for OBC.
iii) The upper age relaxation for Government servants is upto 35 Years.
iv) The relaxation in upper age limit of 5 years shall also be admissible to the
candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K during the
period from 1.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.
v) Five years of age relaxation will also be granted to the children and
dependent family members of those killed in the riots (1984riots and
2002communal riots of Gujarat).SC/ST/OBC, relaxation, as per Govt.
instructions , will be in addition to this relaxation. Children means (a) son
(including adopted son); or Dependent family members mean: (a) spouse:
or (b) children: or(c) brother in case of unmarried Govt. servant who was
wholly dependent on the Govt Servant at the time of his killing in the riots.
Children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots
(1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat) will produce a certificate
from the concerned District Collector.
vi) One time relaxation in upper age limit for 3 years in respect of the trainedITVs of SSB, in addition to the existing relaxation in age limit for
SC/ST/OBC category candidates , for recruitment in SSB as Constables as a
special case, subject to fulfillment of other prescribed eligibility
condition. Candidates must produce supporting documents in their claim.
(B) Educational qualification:
(i) Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board/university.
(ii) Must possess valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
(C) Physical Standards
(a) Height : 170 Cms
165 Cms for candidates belongings to hill areas of
Garhwal, Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkimis, Leh and
Ladakh, Kashmir Valley and North East.
Scheduled Tribes including Mizos and Nagas : 162.5 Cms.

The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction
i.e. without wearing of glasses.
(E) General
Candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and
they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and
free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
They should conform to the medical standards prescribed by the Force and should be
declared fit by the Medical Officers of SSB. The medical certificate obtained from
elsewhere will not be entertained. In the event of any doubt or dispute decision of SSB
shall be final.
4. Conditions for Ex-Servicemen:
For recruitment of Ex-servicemen following will be the criterion:-
(a) Physical standard: Total relaxation
(b) Medical category: Category-Shape-I
(c) Character: Exemplary/Very Good/Good
(d) Break in service: Not more than 24 months as on 01-08-2010
(e) Education:-Matriculation or Army education Should be equivalent tomatriculation.
(f) Age limit:-Age concession for Ex-servicemen will be allowed in accordance
with the orders issued by the Govt. of India from time to time and they will be
allowed to deduct Military service from their actual age and such resultant age
should not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years.
Eligible wards (Sons) of serving/retired SSB personnel may also apply if so
desired accordingly. Applications of wards may be sent through proper
channel from the present posted unit/ last served unit of SSB.
5. Selection procedure:
( i ) The eligible candidates shall be issued Admit Card to appear in the
recruitment test. The date and place of recruitment test will be indicated in Admit Card.
Candidates will have to undergo the following tests:
(a) Documentation :- The candidates reporting for the test have to produce
original testimonials/ certificates attached by him with the application form.
(b) Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates found eligible in documentation
will be screened first for height, chest and weight measurements.
(c) Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The candidates found eligible as per
physical measurement will be required to qualify physical efficiency test consisting
of following events: -
(i) 1 mile race to be completed in 6˝ minutes.
(ii) * Long jump: minimum 11 feet
(iii) * High jump: minimum 3.6 feet
(* 03 chances will be given)
Note: No separate marks will be allotted for PET. However, a candidate must qualify in all
the above events. Failure to qualify in any of the above event of PET will render the
candidate disqualified to appear in subsequent events. No PST/ PET will be held for Ex-
Servicemen. However, Ex. Servicemen will be required to pass the required written
examination, Driving/Technical test and medical examination.
(ii) Written examination : Maximum 50 Marks : The candidates qualifying in the
physical efficiency test will be required to appear in Written Examination of 50 marks. The
question paper will be set to assess the general awareness, general knowledge, Knowledge
of elementary mathematics, analytical aptitude and to test the basic knowledge of the trade
theory of the candidates. Minimum qualifying marks for Written Examination will be 33%
marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates and 35% for General and Ex. Servicemen.
Note: - As the Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PST / PET, they will appear in Written
Examination test directly.
(iii) Driving/ Technical Test : Maximum 50 Marks: - The candidates qualifying in
the Written Examination will be required to appear in Driving/ Technical Test of 50
marks. The Driving/Technical test will be held after written examination. Minimum
qualifying marks for Driving/ Technical Test will be 33% marks for SC/ST/OBC
candidates and 35% for General and Ex. Servicemen.
(iv) Medical Examination
The candidates declared qualified on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in
written Examination and Driving /Technical Test out of 100 Marks will be called for
Medical Examination as per the vacancies and average failure rate strictly on the basis of
merit.
(v) Appeal against medical examination:
If a candidate is declared unfit in the detailed medial examination, the grounds for
rejection will be communicated to him by the Chairman. The rejected candidates will
obtain form 4,5 and 6 from Chairman concerned , if not satisfied with the findings of the
Medical Officer, to prefer an appeal for re-medical examination to the Inspector
General(Pers), SSB Force HQ, R.K.Puram, New Delhi, within 15 days from the date of
issue of communication in which the findings of the Medical Officer is communicated to
the candidate. The appeal should necessarily contain the following (a) Medical reexamination
fee of Rs. 25/-(Rupees twenty five) only non refundable, through a bank
draft/IPO in favour of “ PAO , SSB MHA ” (b) Appeal form 4,5 & 6 issued by the Initial
Medical board declaring the candidate as unfit (c) Fitness certificate obtained from a
registered medical practioner in Form-6 issued by the Recruitment Board. (d) One self
addressed envelope with Rs.6/- stamp affixed on it. Certificate other than Medical Form-
6 (provided by the Chairman of Recruitment Board to the candidates) to submit
appeal for Review Medical Examination will not be considered & rejected
straightaway. The fitness certificate on form-6 is essential only to consider their cases
for review medical examination and not for any other purpose.
Those candidates whose appeal found in order will be issued call letter to appear for
Review Medical Examination and their list will also be uploaded in SSB website
www.ssbrectt.gov.in. They may keep in touch to know their date of appearing in review
medical examination and venue in our website.
The decision of the review medical board of SSB shall be final and no 2nd
appeal will be entertained as per Govt. instructions and also no reply of the
correspondence /2nd appeal will be given/entertained.
(vi) Final Selection
(a) The final selection of the candidates will be made in order of merit in each
category.
(b) The aggregate marks for qualifying will be as under:
General and Ex-Servicemen : 35%
SC/ST/OBC : 33%
(vii) Merit list
List of provisionally selected candidates will be placed in SSB website
www.ssbrectt.gov.in as per category wise available vacancies.
6. Application Fee:- Application fee will be Rs.50/- for candidates belonging to
General and OBC categories. No fee will be charged from SC/ST and Ex-Servicemen. The
candidates shall attach the non refundable Bank Draft drawn in favour of authority
mentioned in column No.4 of Para-07. The candidates can also submit application fee
through IPOs to be prepared in favour of authority mentioned in Column No. 5 of table
given at Para-7
7. How to apply:-
Eligible and desirous candidates should send their applications BY
POST in the prescribed proforma given in Annexures-I and II with attested passport size
photographs duly affixed on application form and admit card at the space provided for the
purpose, along with application fee, attested copies of the testimonials as in Para-8. The
applications should be typed or neatly hand written. Two self-addressed envelopes of
4”x9” size with Rs.6/- postage stamps duly affixed should also be attached with the
application forms. The candidates belonging to different States/UTs should send their
application forms to the address as shown at Column No.3 of the table below on or before
closing date. The envelope containing the application should be superscribed in block
letters as APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CONSTABLE (DRIVER). The
incomplete applications and applications received after the last date will not be entertained
and will be summarily rejected. SSB will not be responsible for postal delay, if any. No
correspondence will be entertained on this account.
8. Enclosures required to be forwarded with application:-
Attested copies of:-
i) Educational certificates.
ii) Date of birth certificate (Matriculation or 10th class certificate).
iii) A photocopy of valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
iv) SC/ST certificate as prescribed in Annexure-III (Subject to verification at any
stage).
v) Latest OBC certificate on the format as prescribed in Annexure-IV. The OBC
certificate produced other than Annexure-IV will not be entertained and their
application will be summarily rejected.
vi) 2 self addressed envelopes of 4x9” size duly affixed with postage stamps of
Rs. 6/- on it.
vii) Domicile Certificate issued by the revenue authority not below the rank of
Tehsildar. West Pakistani Refugees settled in J&K are exempted to produce
domicile certificate, they will produce certificate issued by the village
Sarapanch/ Numberdar along with a copy of the Electoral Roll showing the
name of the candidate in the voter list for election to the Parliamentary
Constituency.
viii) In the case of ITVs, certificate of advance training, if any duly attested.
ix) In case SSB ward, certificate issued by the employer.
x) Certificate if any for domicile in J&K during 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989.
xi) Certificate if any for 1984 riots or 2002 communal riots of Gujarat.
9. General instructions:-
** On appointment, the candidate shall be governed by the provisions of the SSB
Act and Rules and other act rules comes into effect from time to time.
** Government shall not be responsible for damage/injury/ loss to the individual,
if any, sustained during the process of recruitment test/journey.
** Candidates should come duly prepared to stay for 4-5 days at their own
arrangements at the place of recruitment.
** All eligible candidates will be duly informed about the date and venue of
recruitment test.
** On appointment, candidates shall be governed under New Defined
Contributory Pension Scheme effective from 1.1.2004.
** Canvassing in any form or bringing outside influence will disqualify the
candidature.
** Candidates impersonating and submitting the fabricated/forged documents are
liable to disqualification /prosecution.
** Any shortcoming, which could not be detected by the Application Receiving
Centre at the time of initial scrutiny of the documents and found/noticed at a
later stage, shall render the candidate disqualified for the post and he will not
be allowed to appear in subsequent events of the recruitment and no any
correspondence will be entertained on the subject.
** In case any candidate is found ineligible on any ground after his appointment,
his service will be terminated immediately without assigning any reason.
** The Director General, SSB reserves the right to make changes or cancel
or postpone the recruitment without assigning any reason.
** Mere qualifying all the prescribed tests does not confer the right of selection of
the candidates but they should have to stand in merit keeping in view the
available vacancies.
** Ex. Para-Military personnel (including SSB) will be treated as fresh entrants
and they will not be allowed for relaxation applicable to Ex-Servicemen.
** SSB strives to recruit fit, committed, sincere and best candidates with
transparency and impartiality. Hence, candidates are advised to “ beware of
touts”.
