I am Pankaj Kumar B.E (mechanical) currently working in Bahrain for Shaw group
As engineering consultant for 17 months.Once I complete two years I was looking at doing PDMS course from MIT. It would be great if u could help with some guidance regarding the course and Placements. I am currently working on piping engineering.
Actually i am working in Shaw-Nass Middle East Bahrain, which is sister concern of shaw group, as second checker and do not have any knowledge in PDMS and any of the software's used in piping design.Thats the reason i was looking at doing the PDMS design course from MIT.what is the package people get after completion of the course, and if i have to do the course , then which centre would b better for that , i mean from pune college or thane branch .
Here our job is to split the isometric into spools which is then sent to fabrication shops , and we use spoolgen v5 program for spooling of isometric drawing . we do not do any design work in department. Its more of fabrication than design.Previously i didnt do any piping course, but i m working in this field for past 1.7 years.
Please suggest me whether i should do any piping course before doing PDMS course . Can u please let me know the current market demand for the same in india .
It would be of great help if u could tell me which course should i go for ,
1. certified PDMS course of 2 months full time.
2. PG course in piping design with PDMS for 1 year part time(6month full time).
can you please let me know the current demand in piping field .
thanks and regards

what is the package people get after completion of the course,
It depends on the company and the country you get the job in.
Quantifying this is difficult as many factors are involved.
and if i have to do the course , then which centre would b better for that , i mean from pune college or thane branch .
I have no idea.
But I don't think there will be any difference.
It may not matter which branch you get the training from.
What will matter is the name of the institution, quality of training imparted and how much you learn from it.
Please suggest me whether i should do any piping course before doing PDMS course .
A definite YES.
Can u please let me know the current market demand for the same in india .
From what I understand, piping design Engineers are in good demand, both in india and abroad.
It would be of great help if u could tell me which course should i go for ,
1. certified PDMS course of 2 months full time.
2. PG course in piping design with PDMS for 1 year part time(6month full time).
can you please let me know the current demand in piping field .
You have to know piping design in order to do PDMS course ideally.
So piping course is an absolute must.
But whether a 3 week course or a PG course depends on whether you can afford time and money.
If you can get a job for your piping skills, you can get trained from companies in PDMS on the job in-situ.
Good luck.
