Re: Is your future predictable by astrology ?

At the first instant, is future predictable? If yes, how accurate will it be?
Proponents of Astrology as a theory are very affirmative to this question. They strongly put forth many evidences to this.

Mankind, by its very nature wants to control environment. One byproduct of this behaviour is to try and predict future. Whenever a person is in distress, he will obviously want to know when his suffereings will end. Here comes the astrologer (read businessman) who sees a huge earning potential with this. They specify a date and say that the sorrows of the customer will will end by then. The customer is happy to part away the fee for the astrologer as he sees light at the end of the tunnel. Its kind of a counselling. All is well until here. There is more to this story.
Greedy ones will try to extract more money from the innocent by saying that special poojas need to be conducted to snare the evil away. This will continue as long as he sees the money outflow from the customer.

When the problem is solved, the man feels happy and believes that the astrological prediction has worked in favour for him. In reality what has happened is that, for every downfall there has to be a rise - by nature - and the problems will be solved by its very own.

As a corollary to the astrology theory, numerology, namology, gemmology, so on and so forth have come into existence and they are thriving. Every branch-out is reaping fortunes or so it seems as seen on the number of programmes hosted on the TV and dominance of astrology advertisements in print media.

One of my collegue married late because his family was strict on horoscope matching. After scanning through so many, his parents selected one bride and his marriage was held in Vellore in the morning. In the afternoon they were on their way to Chennai and the car met with an accident. The newly-wed bride died and my collegue escaped with bruises.

To me it defies common-sense to believe that future is predictable - through astrology or whatever name you give it.

Is astrology good for anyone afterall?
    Yes. To the astrologer.
