Academic programmes offered at CMI :
From 2012, the B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics programme has been restructured as an integrated B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Physics. There is a common entrance examination for both the B.Sc. (Hons.) programmes. You need not select your course at the time of applying. The choice can be made after admission.
** B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Computer Science (3 year integrated course).
** B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Physics (3 year integrated course).
** M.Sc. in Mathematics.
** M.Sc. in Applications of Mathematics.
** M.Sc. in Computer Science.

Eligibility for Admission :
1. B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics and Computer Science: 12th standard or equivalent.
2. B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics and Physics: 12th standard or equivalent.
3. M.Sc. in Mathematics: B.Sc.(Math)/B.Math/B.Stat/B.E./B.Tech.
4. M.Sc. in Applications of Mathematics: B.Sc.(Math,Physics,Statistics)/B.Math/B.Stat/B.E./B.Tech.
5. M.Sc. in Computer Science: B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.(C.S.)/B.C.A. or B.Sc.(Math) with a strong background in C.S.
6. Ph.D. in Mathematics: B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.(Math)/M.Sc.(Math).
7. Ph.D. in Computer Science: B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc.(C.S.)/M.C.A.

Entrance Exam : For all the programmes, applicants will have to take an entrance examination on Wednesday, 15 May, 2013. The entrance examination centres for 2013 are as follows: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Kolkata, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Shillong, Srinagar and Trivandrum.

Qualify for PhD Mathematics via NBHM/CSIR :
1. Candidates applying to the PhD programme in Mathematics at CMI for the academic year starting August 2013 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the written exam in Mathematics conducted by NBHM/CSIR, without writing the CMI entrance examination.
2. If you wish to apply to the PhD programme in Mathematics at CMI through this channel, you should fill out the CMI application form in full detail. After you fill out the form, send an email to phdmath2013@cmi.ac.in attaching a scanned copy of your NBHM/CSIR scorecard along with your BSc and MSc academic transcripts.
3. If you qualify directly for the interview based on your performance in these exams, you will receive a notification from the Admissions Committee. If you do not hear from us, you must write the CMI entrance examination in order to qualify.

Qualify for PhD Computer Science via JEST-2013 :
1. Candidates applying to the PhD programme in Computer Science at CMI for the academic year starting August 2013 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2013) in Theoretical Computer Science, without writing the CMI entrance examination.
2. If you have written JEST-2013 and wish to apply to the PhD programme in Computer Science at CMI, you should fill out the CMI application form in full detail. After you fill out the form, send an email to phdcs2013@cmi.ac.in to inform us that you have also written JEST.
3. If you qualify directly for the interview based on your performance in JEST-2013, You will receive a notification from the Admissions Committee. If you do not hear from us, you must write the CMI entrance examination in order to qualify.

Qualify for PhD Physics via JEST-2013 :
1. Candidates applying to the PhD programme in Physics at CMI for the academic year starting August 2013 can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2013) in Physics without writing the CMI entrance examination. Only candidates within the top 300 ranks will qualify through this category.
2. If you wish to apply to the PhD programme in Physics at CMI through this channel, you should fill out the CMI application form in full detail. After you fill out the form, send an email to phdphy2013@cmi.ac.in attaching a scanned copy of your JEST scorecard.
3. If you qualify directly for the interview based on your performance in these exams, you will receive a notification from the Admissions Committee. If you do not hear from us, you must write the CMI entrance examination in order to qualify.

Fee : If you are applying to more than one programme, you need to send only a single DD for Rs. 600/-, whether you apply online or request a form by post.
