Admissions to 5 year BS-MS Dual degree Program 2013
IISERs :
To promote high quality scientific research and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India has set up five Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.
BS-MS Dual Degree Programme :
It is a five year dual degree programme for bright and motivated students of science who have completed class XII. It integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions.
Scholarships :
BS-MS students are eligible for either KVPY or INSPIRE scholarship.

I am a class XII science student, what course can I apply for at IISERs?
Five year BS-MS dual degree programme.
How do I get admission to the BS-MS dual degree program in IISERs?
To seek an admission, you should apply through at least one of the three channels.
(a) Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY): SA(2011)/SX(2012)/SB(2012)/SP(Passed class XII in 2012).
(b) Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2013: Students obtaining a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in the rank list of Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) for the admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). For SC/ST/PD candidates the required percentage of aggregate marks* in class XII is 55%.
(c) State and Central Boards: Students who have passed class XII in 2012 or are appearing for class XII exam in 2013 in science stream with either
What is the intake of students in IISERs for BS-MS dual degree programme in 2013?
Each IISER: 150. Total: 750
Do I need to apply separately for different IISERs?
No. All five IISERs admit students through a common application and counseling process.
What is the intake through different channels?
Up to 25% seats in each category (General/SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy) through KVPY channel.
Up to 50% seats in each category (General/SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy) from KVPY + JEE (Advanced) channels.
Remaining seats in each category through State and Central Boards channel based on an Aptitude Test conducted by IISERs.
Do I need to apply separately for each channel?
You may apply to IISERs through multiple channels provided you meet the eligibility criteria for each of the channels you want to apply through. It requires separate application and payment of application fee for each channel.
Does reservation of seats apply for admission?
Yes, as per Government of India rules.
