A Computer Based Online Test for Admission to Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, 2012-13

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2012-13 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani. This test will be referred to as ‘BITS Admission Test – 2012’, in short as BITSAT-2012 hereafter in this document.

Eligibility : For admission to any of the above Integrated First Degree Programmes, candidates should have passed the 12th class examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English.

Details of BITSAT-2012 : ‘Computer Based Online test’ means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. This is unlike the traditional paper-pencil based test, which is generally offered on a single day to all candidates. BITSAT-2012 will be offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the Center, the Day and Time of his/her convenience to take the test, as described in the later sections.

How to Apply : Interested candidates should register their names for BITSAT-2012 by applying in the prescribed application form online. Complete the application form online at bitsadmission.com and pay the prescribed fees. Also take the print out of the filled form for your future reference. If you make payment by Demand draft then a copy of the completed application form alongwith the prescribed fees of Rs. 1700/- (Rs. 1200/- for female candidates) should be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333 031. If you are using a payment mode other than DD then the prescribed fee for BITSAT 2012 is Rs. 1600/-(Rs. 1100/- for female candidates).

Procedure for Applying for admission :
In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT-2012, candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS giving details of their 12th marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered. The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programmes offered will be available at the BITS website, by 19th May 2012. The completed form with the required application fee has to be submitted so as to reach the under-mentioned on or before 5.00 PM on 30th June 2012.

No you are not eligible.

I am unable to access the Online application. Can you send the application form by email or post?
The application cannot be sent by email/post. If you get any specific error while applying, please send an email to admnoc@bits-pilani.ac.in for help with details.

I have taken Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2.Am I Eligible to Apply for BITSAT.
For BITSAT 2012 Candidates should have taken Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2.

I have completed the online application. But, I have not taken a print out. How can I get a print out now?
You can go to the applying online page again and enter the personal details AND the application number. You will be taken to the printout page again.

I have made a mistake while entering some data in my application form. How can I edit/correct it?
You cannot edit application Online once submitted. If the mistake is minor, you can send a written signed request for the correction. However, if you want to change the center preferences, you will have to apply afresh with a new application fees.

My 12th exam results are not expected before 30th June. Should I apply for BITSAT-2012?
For admissions to I semester staring in August, you should have your result before 30th June. Keeping that in mind, you may appear in BITSAT-2012.

I passed 12th in 2011. I didn't get 75% aggregate in PCM .Am I eligible if I repeat some of the subjects to get the required 75% marks?
If you are repeating 12th exam, you should do it for the all the subjects as required by the board to pass 12th again. If you take improvement exams in PCM only, you are not eligible.

What are the tuition and other fees and expenses?
The fee details for 2012-13 are yet to be finalized. The details will be available at BITS website by March.

I passed 12th exam in 2011. Am I eligible to appear for BITSAT-2012?

I had appeared in BITSAT-2011 but my marks were below the cut-off marks. Can I appear in BITSAT-2012?
Yes. as advertised subject to eligibility conditions you can apply again for BITSAT-2012.

What is the application procedure for NRIs?
There is no separate procedure for NRIs.

What is the application procedure for candidates with foreign qualifications?
There is no separate procedure. They have to apply similar to Indian students and to provide an equivalence certificate from AIU at the time of applying for Admissions later.

How am I Eligible for admission to M.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Tech.) programmes after 12th?
The M.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Tech.) programmes are 4-year integrated programme after 12th. There is no intermediate B.Sc. degree awarded.

I have passed 12th in the year 2010 (or earlier). I am now doing my higher studies (B.Sc./B.E./Diploma) in another college. Can I apply for BITSAT-2012?
You are NOT eligible to appear in BITSAT-2012.

If you pay online by credit card / debit card, you dont have to send separate application by post.

I am not able to see my centre allotment!
It shows ""The above application form is complete with fee. Please visit the website again after 15th February 2012 for checking center allotment."" and am not getting anything else on today(20/2/2012). Is my application completely submitted or not??

A candidate can apply online only once for BITSAT-2012. However, if a candidate discovers any mistake in the form submitted by him, he can apply online second time and send a letter to admission office BITS,Pilani mentioning the earlier application number which will be cancelled. In such cases, the second application has to be accompanied by a fresh application fee.

I am an M.A. in Fine Arts from Madras university ( 1978), I am also an Msc. degree holder in Psychology from the Madras university ( distance education) 2007.
I am currently teaching at NIFT ( National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hyderabad.). I teach as visiting faculty, subjects like "the Elements and Principles of Design".
I also function simultaneously as school Psychologist with a group of schools. ( St. Martin's, part of the CMR group of institutions).
I have done a course in counselling with Sujata Potay. I have done various ancillary course with NIMH ( National Institute of Mental Health), Hyderabad, like "Psychological Assessment ,IQ and aptitude testing "( a full time course), and" Behavior Modification." I have also done CBT- cognitive behavior therapy with Shishir Palsapure of the Aoran Beck school,, NLP- neuro-linguistic programming and TA- transactional Analysis- all with appropriate certified trainers.
I am also qualified in Rorschach testing ( Professor Dubey from Alaska) and TAT- Thematic apperception tests, SIS- Somatic inkblot testing( Also with professor Dubey).
I have been counselling at Gandhi Hospital through an NGO- SEVA since 2007. ( Attached to the Psychiatric dept. which refer cases to us which will benefit from counselling). I also counsel at one of the other 4 centres run by Seva in Secunderabad.
Currently I have been exploring various options to complete my Phd. My broad area of interest is Psychotherapy through Art. My set of skills/ education equip me for the subject, and I am currently teaching Art/ design as well psychological counselling.
I have gone through your Advt. in the newspaper for Phd admissions.I would be grateful if you could advise me in this regard. I could not download your application because the date of birth box stops at 1960.( I am born in 1955). I have listed out my relevant qualifications. I would like to add here that I am physically fit and drive 20km to work, am very keen to do my Phd with your reputed institution, In your opinion, would I be eligible to do so ...off campus..( My work is very important to me). how do I download the application- the date of birth being the glitch.
