Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme in Pure Mathematics, C.U. Candidates desirous of enrolling in the said Ph.D. programme are to apply in the prescribed form (as given below) after paying the prescribed application fee of Rs. 100/- in the University Cash Counter. The details about the proposed admission test (written) and subsequent interview of the candidates are given below. The candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR(JRF)/NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test; however, they are to appear for the interview.

Date of Admission Test (written) : 30.05.2012 ( 12 noon – 2 p.m. )

Question Pattern : Objective (M.C.Q) and short answer type.

Syllabus : Topics covered in B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc. courses in Pure Mathematics (excluding topics covered in special papers)

Date of Interview for the short listed candidates on the basis of written test, and for other candidates exempted from appearing for the test : 07.06.2012 at 1:00 p.m.

Venue of the Admission Test and Interview : Department of Pure Mathematics, C.U.

Maximum number of seats available for the Ph.D. programme (subject to the above mentioned criteria) : 10 (reservation regarding SC/ST will be followed as per rules).

Deadline for application : 15.05.2012

The list of successful candidates in the entrance test and that of finally selected candidates will be displayed in the Departmental Notice Board / University Website.
