Ph.D. (SCIENCES) : Chemistry * Mathematics & Statistics * Physics
Ph.D. (HUMANITIES & SOCIAL SCIENCES) : Economics * English (Literature and Linguistics) * Philosophy * Psychology * Sociology
M.Tech. : Environmental Engineering & Management
Master of Design & Ph.D(Design)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Ph.D. :
(Engineering) M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and possessing a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidates with MBBS, B.Pharma or M. Pharma Degree may also apply. Candidates with Master’s degree in Management may apply for Ph.D. in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME).

Ph.D. (Sciences & HSS) :
M.Sc./M.A. degree in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score. For Ph D in Economics, Mathematics at +2 level is required.

M.Tech. :
B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc.(Engg.)/M.Sc. in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score; B.Tech. graduates from IITs with an overall minimum CGPA of 6.5 and a CGPA of 8.0 during the last two semesters in B.Tech. may apply without a GATE score (such candidates will, however, be not eligible for Assistantship if CGPA is below 8.0). For M.Tech. in Biological Sciences and Bio Engineering, candidates with MBBS or B.Pharma Degree are also considered. Eligibility for a specialization within a Department may depend on the candidate’s choice of test paper in GATE.

M.Des :
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture with a valid GATE/CEED score.

Ph.D. in Design :
B.E./B.Tech.(Arch.)/B.Des./M.Des./M.Tech./M.E./ M.FineArts/M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology/Master Degree in Fine Arts/Bachelor’s degree in Design or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and possessing a valid GATE/CEED score may also apply

Fee : The application fee of Rs.200/ for candidates in General/OBC/PD and Rs.100/ for SC/ST must be paid through demand draft payable to The Registrar IIT Kanpur at Kanpur.
