University Grants Commission, New Delhi has granted accreditation to Kumaun University, Nainital as a Nodal Agency for conducting SET exam for Uttarakhand State for the year 2012-13 in the following 23 subjects based on the vacancies available and the request of the State Government.

FEE STRUCTURE :
i) General Candidates : Rs. 900
ii) OBC/VH/PH : Rs.700
iii) SC/ST : Rs. 500
Applicants must submit fee as a Demand Draft (DD) only in favour of Finance officer Kumaun University, payable at Nainital of any Nationalise Bank according their category

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY ( As per UGC- NET) :
i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of SET eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.
iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects may appear in a related subject.
v) Candidates are not required to submit any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility along with their Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the agency at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.
vi) Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s), should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

AGE LIMIT :There is no upper age limit for applying for Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET)

SCHEME AND DATE OF EXAMINATION :
The U-SET will be conducted in objective mode. The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions. The test is proposed on 15, July 2012 (SUNDAY) in two separate sessions.

STEPS FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM :
Application Form : From post office or College.
i) Before filling application form, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available on Information Brochure/ Reputed Daily News Papers/ Employment News Paper / Kumaun University website.
ii) The candidates must affix their recent identical passport size photographs, at the places indicated, on Application Form and OMR Sheet.
iii) Kindly use black or blue ball pen only to fill application and OMR sheet.
iv) The Application along with OMR sheet and DD must reach the
Member Secretary U-SET,

v) The dully filled application form along with OMR and DD enclosed in prescribed envelop provided by the university should be posted by registered post/ speed post only.

ENCLOSURES TO BE SENT WITH THE APPLICATION :
The candidates need not to submit any documents along with application form. However, qualified candidates will have to produce following certificates in original and a attested copy at the time of counselling/ issuing pass certificate.
i) SC/ST/Visually Handicapped/Physically Handicapped/ OBC (Non creamy layer) certificates, in case applicable.
iii) Certificate of educational qualification/ research experience, in case applicable, entitling the candidate for age relaxation, duly self attested.
