- MOLECULAR SCREENING OF MARINE FREE LIVING DIAZOTROPHIC BACTERIA USING CONSRERVED 16s RIBOSOSMAL RNA (Main Project)
Project Description : Water samples collected from Tondi marine region, Rameswaram. After the plating on the selective media it was confirmed that the isolates were Azotobacter. From these 12 strains selected for molecular analysis. The DNA extraction of these strains were carried out by using Phenol-Chloroform method. The quantification and purification of DNA samples carried out by using biophotometer and agarose gel electrophoresis. PCR amplification of these strains were carried out by using 16s rRNA primers. Then the nifH analysis was done to check the nitrogen fixation by using specific nifH primers.
- ANTIBACTERIL ACTIVITIES OF MEDICINAL PLANTS ON RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS (Mini Project)
Project Description : Respiratory tract samples collected and analysed for bacterial isolates such as Streptococcus pyogens, Staphylococcus aureus & Escherichia coli. Isolated organisms were identified & confirmed by Gram’s staining, Motility test & Biochemical tests. Antibiotic susceptibility of these organisms were performed against some medicinal plants such as piper nigrum, piper betle & zingiber officinale.
