    Innovative hiring need of the hour

    NEW DELHI: The advent of global economy has made it imperative for Indian companies to create the very best. For this, it is essential to have the very best manpower, especially when they have to compete with global companies for the country's sought after human resource poll.

    In this scenario, hiring the right talent has become a challenge in itself. As they say, there is a little extra between ordinary and extraordinary. It is the search of this 'little' extra that keeps the hiring executives on their toes. This was the issue addressed at the recent Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) seminar on 'Innovative Hiring Strategies'.

    Kicking off the seminar, P Rajendran, Director and Chief Operating Officer, NIIT and Member, CII said that the new and innovative hiring strategies are the need of the hour, if Indian companies have to succeed in the changing global scenario.

    As Indian business giants are enter the phase of global mergers and acquisitions, a shift in standard hiring practices has become evident. With Indian companies entering the phase of global mergers and acquisitions, already there is a shift in standard hiring practices.

    According to Rajendran in the new set-up, "The compensation being offered, sharing the vision of the company and transmitting a sense of passion in the company to the prospective employee will go a long way in attracting the right talent.”

    The speakers also talked about several unique hiring strategies being used these days.

    These include, offering education and placement packages, lateral hiring of experienced professionals and recruiting people from public sector companies.

    SY Siddiqui, Managing Executive Officer, Administration, Maruti Suzuki, said, "A smart and sophisticated workforce will be the most important corporate resource over the next 20 years. The demand for this resource is sure to go up; however, the supply is already dwindling."

    No I know why recruiters are looking inside bus and at blogs for talents.
    Just lateral thinking. But I heard that too much of lateral thinking is dubbed insane
