ADVERTISEMENT (2) FOR RECRUITMENT OF FEMALE CONSTABLES IN DISTRICT POLICE CADRE
Applications are invited from Female candidates for filling up
485 posts in the District Police Cadre in the rank of constable in Punjab
Police.

As per instructions issued by the Government from time
to time, 25% seats for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, 12%
seats for Backward Classes, 13% seats for Ex-Servicemen, 2% seats
for wards of Police personnel & 1% seat for Wards of Freedom
Fighters are reserved.
Note :
i) As per State Govt. instructions recruitment against 3%
vacancy reserved for sports persons shall be carried out
separately for which a separate advertisement shall be
given. However, the sportsperson can also apply in this
open recruitment.
ii) As per section 4(b) of Punjab Police Act-2007, the selected
candidates so recruited shall not be transferred out of
District Police Cadre.
iii) The posts can be increased or decreased as per
requirement.

1. SCALE OF PAY :
Pay Band- 2 = Pay Band 5910-20200+Grade pay Rs. 1900. The posts
shall also carry other allowances as admissible under Govt.
instructions/rules. The selected candidates will be included under
‘Defined Contributory Pension Scheme’ of the State Govt.
2. PLACE OF DUTY : Selected candidate(s) can be deployed anywhere
in Punjab, India and even abroad.
3. NATIONALITY : Applicant should be a citizen of India.
4. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
a. Age : (i) Educational qualifications: The minimum educational
qualification for recruitment is 10+2 in any discipline or equivalent. It
is compulsory for each candidate to have passed matriculation
examination with Punjabi as compulsory/optional subject. However,
in case of Ex-Servicemen the minimum educational qualification will
be matriculation.
b. The minimum and maximum age for recruitment shall be 18 years
and 25 years respectively. The cut off date shall be 01.09.2010.
Relaxation in upper age limit in case of Scheduled Casts/Scheduled
Tribes and Backward Classes shall be as prescribed by the
Government.
Ex-Servicemen shall be given relaxation in the upper age
limit by 3 years plus the number of years of service rendered
in the Defence Forces. However, the period between
discharge from defence services and re-employment should
not exceed 24 months (2 years).
c. For Ex-servicemen : In accordance with Govt. instructions issued
vide No.G-S-R-11/Const./Arts, 309, 234 & 318/82 dated 02.02.1982
where an Ex-Servicemen is not available for recruitment against a
reserved vacancy, such a vacancy shall be reserved to be filled in by
recruitment of the wife/widow or one dependant daughter of an Ex-
Serviceman who has neither been recruited against a reserved
vacancy as prescribed under the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-
Servicemen Rules 1982.
d) For wards of Freedom fighters : Daughter and Grand daughter of
Freedom Fighter- Wards of those freedom fighter will be eligible who
have either been granted a freedom fighters pension from the Punjab
Govt. or have been awarded Tamra Patras for their political sufferings
during pre-independence freedom movements. The Deputy
Commissioner of District to which a freedom fighter belongs to will be
the only competent authority to provide an eligibility certificate to this
effect, i.e. for the grant of all types of those concessions to a freedom
fighter or his wards
e) For wards of Police Personnel : In accordance with Govt.
instructions issued by Deptt. of Home Affairs & Justice vide
No.1(211)94-2H(I)/10176 dated 11.6.1996 wards of police personnel
belonging to the following categories shall be covered :-
i) Who have suffered casualty of one or more of the following
relatives on the anti-terrorist front : (a) Father (b) Mother (c)
Sister/Brother (d) Son/daughter (e) Any other dependant family
member. (ii) Who have suffered permanent disability on account
of action against terrorists or attack by terrorist (iii) Who have
been awarded President’s Police Medal for Gallantry or Police
Medal for Gallantry for showing bravery in action(s) against
terrorists (iv) Who have taken part in at least 3 encounters with
terrorists. (v) Who otherwise in the opinion of the Director
General of Police have been in forefront of fight against
terrorism (Children means dependent son, daughter, brother
and sister or any other dependent family member).
f) If married, the candidate should not have more than one living
spouse.

5) MEDICAL STANDARDS :
The candidate shall, before enrolment, be medically
examined and certified physically fit for service by the Civil Surgeon in
accordance with provision contained in Rule 10.64 of Punjab Police
Rules, 1934.

6) SELECTION PROCESS :
Selection shall be made by the District Recruitment Board.
Selection process would comprise of three phases
(A) Physical Measurement
(B) Physical Efficiency Test
(C) Interview.
(A) Physical Measurement
Minimum Height 5’ 3” (Five feet Three Inches)
Candidates who fulfill the requisite age and educational
qualification shall only be screened for height. All eligible candidates
shall then be put through a Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
(B) Physical Efficiency Test :-
Candidates meeting the minimum physical standards will be
eligible to participate in the physical efficiency test which
shall be of a qualifying nature and shall comprise of the
following events :-
Candidates fulfilling the above physical measurement
criteria shall be eligible to participate in Physical Efficiency Test. (PET):-
1 800 Mtr. Race 4 minutes (only one chance)
2 Long jump 3.25 M (3 chances)
3 High jump 1.05 M (3 chances)
Note : Candidate must qualify all the above events.
(C) Interview :
Interview shall carry 4 marks
(D) The candidates shall be awarded marks on the basis of
educational qualification and height as follows :

Note : Merit of the candidates will be drawn on the basis of the total
marks obtained in educational qualification, height and
interview.

7. AVAILABILITY OF APPLICATION FORMS :Against cash payment
Application Form can be obtained by paying Rs. 100/- cash w.e.f
15.09.2010 to 07.10.2010 on all working days during office hours
(9.00 a.m. to 1.30 P.M and 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.) from the Office
of Police Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police in
all Districts of Punjab.
Candidates may also apply on forms downloaded from the official
website of the Punjab Police www.punjabpoliceindia.org. such
downloaded application forms should be accompanied by an
Account Payee, Demand Draft amounting to Rs. 100/- in favour of
“Chairman, Central Recruitment Board for female constables
2010” payable at _____________________ (District concerned). The
candidate must write her Name and Address at the back side
of the Bank Draft in capital letters.

8. LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM :
The application form completely filled in all aspects alongwith all the
necessary documents/certificate must reach the Chairman, Central
Recruitment Boards from 15.09.2010 to 07.10.2010
(from 9.00 A.M to 5.00 P.M) on all working days including Saturdays).
The application received after 5.00 P.M on 7.10.2010 shall not be
considered.
N.B :- Candidates selected through this process can be posted in any
unit of Punjab Police. Each District Recruitment Board will be
effecting recruitment for the number of posts as reflected in
this Advertisement against that district. The test for selection
will be carried out simultenously in all districts.
