Advise on learning suitable platform for job ?

I have work experience of 3+ years in an MNC. I have been working in Oracle(mainly PL/SQL and SQL) and also little Unix Shell Scripting. It was Datawarehousing actually. First 1 year was in Production support and later for 2 years started with coding in PL/SQL and also little Shell scripting.
For me to find a job in different company, can I start learning like php with mysql since I am interested in that. Or is it advisable to stick with Oracle related alone? Or I can concentate learning on perl with shell scripting?
I am really confused on which one to choose :(
Although I have no real time exp. in php with mysql, do the openings in new company seek only experienced candidates alone in this even if I become really good in php and mysql? How should I take from here? Please advise.

    Hello Gopikrish,

For you to get a job , you just need two main things:

    1) Strong Techinical knowledge
    2) Interest towards the platform

If you are technically strong in any language , it doesnt matter whether you have experience or not. So whatever the language you select to learn, try to be technically strong in that.

ORacle does and will have good market in IT industry. You could do a certification in ORacle , which will open up lots of opportunities for you. As you have been in datawarehousing , you can plan to be a DBA. There are DBA certification provided by ORacle Inc. Server side languages (ORacle) will have a stable market. When you finish a certification, an organisation recognises you as one of the good resources.

Finally as you are experienced in server side and as you have interest towards client side programs like php, you can keep updating these languages through available online resources like www.w3schools.com., as an added value. Learning doesnt have an end.

    Hope this helps.

    All the Best
