Title:
I have been working as a PhD student in IICB (Indian Institute of Chemical Biology), under the supervision of Dr. Kunal Ray, in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics. I submitted my PhD thesis in the Month of October 2010 and I wish to pursue my career in research to further diversify my domain. My PhD work was on the molecular genetics of Hemophilia/ coagulation disorders. It primarily focused on characterization and identification of reported and novel biomarkers for efficient disease diagnosis of Hemophilia and genotypye-phenotype correlation of different heterogeneous missense mutations of F9 gene (causal for Hemophilia B) thus exploring its biological implications in disease pathogenesis. The study also included the understanding of the underlying molecular mechanism of Hemophilia B by generating the mutant protein via amino acid substitutions and thereby investigating its function, the spatial orientation of the specific residue and differences in interaction pattern with other partners in coagulation pathway. During my PhD tenure, I did carrier detection of Hemophilia A and B affected families registered with Haemophilia Society of India, Kolkata chapter. I have extensive training and hands on experience with the techniques commonly used in genetics, molecular biology and cell biology including the tissue culture techniques as evident in my CV. atreyeeatiicb AT gmail.com
