This is not mandatory, but most of the toppers join a coaching class particularly for General Studies because the syllabus is very vast and cannot be covered by self preparation in 6 months.

It varies from person to person. But ideally a person needs to spend around 6 hours a day for 6 months.

[U][B]How much time is required to prepare for this examination?[/B][/U]
This is not a school/college exam and cannot be done in 1 week or 1 month. It requires continuous preparation for atleast 6 months, preferably one year.

[U][B]When can a person start his/her preparation?[/B][/U]
Preparation can be started any time, even while studying in the college or school. But one can appear in the exam only when he/she completes the age of 21 years.

[U][B]When can a candidate take the examination?[/B][/U]
The minimum age to appear in the exam is 21 years and maximum is 32 years. However the OBC candidates can appear till 35 years and SC/ST candidates upto 37 years. Similarly relaxation in upper age limit is given to Ex- Service men of the Indian Armed Forces and physically challenged candidates.[/QUOTE]
