The Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union, offers a challenging and inspiring    career in various branches in the rank of  Assistant Commandant at pay scale of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay Rs 5400.

[B][U]Branch and Eligibility [/U][/B]:  Unmarried Indian male citizens of SC/ST category having following  minimum qualifications are eligible to apply

  [B][U]Educational Qualification  [/U][/B]: Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognised    university  with minimum 55% marks in    aggregate.  Mathematics and Physics as subject up    to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of    education. 
[B][U]Age (Born  between including  5 Years relaxation) [/U][/B]:  01 Jul 1985 to    30 Jun 1994 (both  dates inclusive).

[B][U](b)   Branch [/U][/B]:  General Duty (Pilot) 
[B][U]Educational Qualification  [/U][/B]: Should hold a Bachelor’s degree of recognised    university  with minimum 55% marks in    aggregate.  Mathematics and Physics as subject up    to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of    education. 
[B][U]Age (Born  between including  5 Years relaxation) [/U][/B]:01 Jul 1985 to  30 Jun 1996 (both  dates inclusive).

[B][U](c)  Branch [/U][/B]: Technical  branch  (Mechanical  and  Electrical)   
[B][U]Educational Qualification  [/U][/B]: (i) Engineering degree  with  55% marks in  aggregate or Should have passed Sections A and B  examination from the Institution of Engineers (India)  in any of the discipline listed below with 55% marks. 
[B][U](a)  Engineering Branch  [/U][/B]: Naval architecture or  Mechanical or Marine  or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial  and Production or Metallurgy or Design. 
[B][U](b)  Electrical Branch [/U][/B]: Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or  Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or  Electronics and Communication or Power Engg. or  Power Electronics. 
* All the above streams of Engg. must  be recognised by All India Council of  Technical Education (AICTE).
[B][U]Age (Born  between including  5 Years relaxation) [/U][/B]: 01 Jul 1985 to  30 Jun 1994 (both  dates inclusive).
[B][U]Note[/U][/B]:
(i) While short listing applications for call-up, priority will be given to  candidates with higher percentage of marks. 
(ii)  Candidates who have completed their degree in all respects are only  eligible to apply.

[B][U]Medical Standards [/U][/B]:
[B][U](a)  Height in Cm. [/U][/B]:
[B][U]Asst Commandant (GD) and Technical[/U][/B]: 157 cm minimum.Reduction in  height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance  with the Central Govt. orders. 
[B][U](b)Weight.[/U][/B]:  Proportionate to the Height and Age, +10 % acceptable. 
[B][U](c)  Chest.  [/U][/B]: Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cm.
[B][U](d)  Eye Sight.[/U][/B]:
(i)  Asst Commandant (GD) - 6/6 6/9 - Uncorrected without Glass. ; 6/6 6/6 - Corrected with Glass. 
(ii) Asst Commandant (Tech) - 6/36 6/36- Uncorrected without Glass. ; 6/6 6/6 - Corrected with Glass. 
(iii)  Asst Commandant GD (P/N) - 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other correctable to 6/6 
[B][U]Note[/U][/B]:Candidates with above broad medical guidelines standards only to appear for  the selection. No waiver will be given for the above standards.  The Coast Guard  order on medical standards of the officers will be  the final authority in case of  dispute.

[B][U]Schedule for Preliminary Selection Examination [/U][/B]: Candidates to reach the  given venue at least 30 minutes prior to the starting of Exam. The date and time of the examination will be intimated through candidates e-mail ID and Coast Guard website  joinindiancoastguard.gov.in. The Preliminary Selection will be conducted in  Oct 2014at following centers or any other centre promulgated by Coast Guard;

[B][U]Selection Procedure. [/U][/B]: 
[B][U](a)  Preliminary Selection [/U][/B]:  Shortlisted candidates will be called for  Preliminary Selection at given date and time which  will consist of Mental  Ability Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test. Date/ time and  venue of Preliminary Selection once allotted will not be changed  at any stage. Candidates are required to appear at the Venue with the  following documents;
(i) Two copy of computer generated pre-filled online  application. 
(ii) Original passing certificate and mark sheet of tenth class for  date of birth verification. 
(iii)  Original mark sheet and certificates of 10+2 examination. 
(iv)  Original certificate and mark sheets (all semesters and  years) of BE/B Tech /Graduation as the case may be.
(v)  Proof of identity such as passport, driving license, voter  I card, college ID card or any other photo identityproof. 
(vi)  Caste Certificate in original as per Govt of India  format. 
[B][U](b)  Final Selection [/U][/B]: The candidates qualifying above Preliminary  Selection will be called for Final Selection. The date and venue for Final  Selection Board will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website  joinindiancoastguard.gov.in The Final Selection will consist of  Psychological Test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality test).
[B][U](c)  Medical [/U][/B]: All candidates recommended by Final Selection Board will undergo Medical examination at nearest Military Hospital.  
[B][U](d)  PABT [/U][/B]:  GD (Pilot) candidates on qualifying FSB will be required to  appear for PABT at Dehradun/Mysore AFSBs. Those already qualified PABT  are to provide details of batch, Chest number and place while filling up PIQ  forms during FSB. 
(e)  Validity of Selection.The candidate's selection pertaining to a  particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose  names do not appear in the final select list or notable to complete their  medical before start of training in mid Dec 2014  will have no rights for  automatic selection for the next batch. Such candidates will have to undergo  the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria  for the fresh batch. 
[B][U](f)  Reasons for Rejection [/U][/B]: The Candidature of a candidate can be  rejected at any time during the process of selection if ;
(i) Having detected not meeting any of the above laid down  criteria/ conditions of education qualification, age, submission of wrong  information in the application or false certificates etc. 
(ii) In discipline activities including copying/cheating etc. during any  of the testing procedures. 
[B][U](g)  Merit List  [/U][/B]: Qualifying at the FSB does not confirm final selection. A  merit list is prepared for the medically fit candidates on the basis of marks  obtained by the candidates at FSB and depending on  the availability of  vacancies. Medically fit candidates as per positionin merit list will be issued  appointment letter and joining instruction for training. The numbers of  vacancies vary from branch to branch and will be decided at a later date  depending on the number of vacancies allowed by at  the training  establishments.

[B][U]How to Apply [/U][/B]: 
i) Applications will be accepted only  'Online'  from  13 Oct 2014  to  16 Oct 2014.

ii) Candidates are required to  print two copies of the application with  number generated by the system. Both copies of the print out of  application duly signed with photograph are to be carried by the applicant  to the recruitment centre. Out of the above two copies, one copy enclosed  with photocopies of all required documents i.e. class 10th certificate/mark  sheet showing date of birth, 12th class certificate along with mark sheet  showing subjects, Degree certificate showing percentage of marks, caste  certificate and NCC 'C' certificate/games certificate duly attested by the  Gazetted Officer shall be carried by the candidate  and submitted at the  examination centre. Second copy without any enclosure is to be kept with  the candidate as an identity proof during the selection procedure. Any  candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of PSB shall  not be permitted to appear in the exam.
