 [b][u]Pre-Doctoral and Ph. D. Programme – 2013 [/u][/b]: 
  Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institute of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.   The research activities in the Institute centers around theoretical and experimental physics in the areas of condensed matter physics, nuclear physics and high-energy physics. The Institute invites applications for its regular Ph. D program in the above-mentioned areas from candidates, who satisfy the following criteria;
 
 [b][u]Eligibility [/u][/b]: 
 The Institute invites application for its regular Ph. D program and the Pre-doctoral program from Indian nationals having the following qualifications;
 1. M.Sc. in Physics with a minimum of 55% marks (in aggregate). 
 2. A valid GATE score with rank up to 200 ,   OR 
 CSIR-UGC- NET qualifiers within the last one-year.  OR
Candidates who are offered DST-Inspire fellowship for carrying out Ph. D program.

Candidates who have qualified JEST-2013 with a minimum score of 25 marks (cutoff rank of 174) need not send any application. They will be contacted directly by the Institute. If a candidate has scored less than 25 marks (cutoff rank of 174) in JEST-2013 but satisfies any of the criteria mentioned above, he/she may also send the application.

Candidates appearing for the final semester/year of M.Sc., who have already qualified in GATE or CSIR/UGC-NET or have obtained DST-Inspire fellowship can also apply. They should submit the relevant proof before joining the program. In case of non-availability of the M.Sc. results at the time of joining, the admission will be treated as provisional.

[b][u]Admission Procedure [/u][/b]: All eligible candidates, whether through JEST-2013 or through direct application against this advertisement, will have to appear for a short written test on the morning of 28th June, 2013. Result of the written test will be published on the same day and short-listed candidates will have to appear for a personal interview between June 28th–30th, 2013. Final merit list will be prepared based on the scores of both the written test and the interview.
