[B]IGBC Green Design Competition 2012 for Architectural Students  [/B]:
    Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has launched Green Design Competition for Architectural Students in 2005.

[B]Objective[/B] :
    ** The main objective of IGBC in organizing the competition is to motivate young students to practice green concepts and sensitize students towards sustainability cause.
    ** Architectural Colleges from various parts of the country takes part in this competition. Around 1,000 to 1,200 students have competed for this competition over the past 7 years.
    ** Various topics ranged in past years include Design of your Department, Green Home, Designing with Waste, Tree House, Make Your Design Department Green & Zero Energy and Design A Sustainable Green School.

[B]Theme     [/B]:
    The Theme for this year IGBC Green Design Competition 2012 is 'Green Cities'.

[B]Eligibility [/B]:
    ** The competition is open for all undergraduate and postgraduate students of Architecture and Design across the country.
**  Maximum of two members is allowed in one registration.
    
    [B]Prizes [/B]:
    The top three winning teams will get an opportunity to participate in Green Building Congress 2012 - India's flagship event on Green Buildings held at Hyderabad during 30th October - 1st November 2012. Also, a trophy along with cash prize & certificate will be awarded to the winners in Inauguration of the Event.

[B]Important Dates [/B]:    
** The last date for registration for the competition is 7th October 2012 
** Last date for submission of design is 16th October 2012.

[B]Requirement for submission [/B]:
    ** A Background statement - defining the problem, the parameters for which the city has been designed - size, population, location etc.
    Conceptual sketches, zoning plans depict main concept.
    ** A clear enunciation, preferably graphic on how the city will be sustainable and inclusive.
    ** All sheets should be of A3 size and the number to be restricted to a maximum of 6 sheets. Please ensure that your names, college names and other details are written only at the rear side of the sheets as a small label.
    ** Acknowledge references used for case studies and also any design ideas that have been adopted or adapted. All designs will be put through a scrutiny via different search engines.
    ** We would also require you to furnish a letter stating that the design is your property.
** You may send soft copies along with hard copies. The soft copies should be sent as power point presentations or pdf presentations to be compatible with Microsoft office 2007.
** Please make sure that you make a copy for yourselves before sending in the submission.
** We will not be able to return your submissions.
