Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences offers a residential postdoctoral fellowship program for scientists and scholars from this country and abroad. Since 1954, CASBS fellowships have been awarded to scholars working in a diverse range of disciplines. These include the five core social and behavioral disciplines of anthropology, economics, political science, psychology and sociology as well as scholars from a wide range of humanistic disciplines, education, linguistics and the biological sciences.

[B]Checklist to Complete Before Applying [/B]:
Please note that applications for 2013-14 will be accepted from May 17 through October 1, 2012. Applications for the 2012-13 fellowship year are closed and awards have been announced.

2) Have you received at least tentative approval of your sabbatical request?
You'll want to make sure you have sufficient sabbatical time accrued, as well as permission to take it, as fellowship awards are not transferable to later years.

3) Have you secured sabbatical funding?
Securing at least 50% of your 9-month academic salary through sabbatical funding is the most reliable way to make sure you will have sufficient funds to accept a fellowship invitation.

4) If you don't have sufficient sabbatical funding, have you secured alternate funds that total at least 50% of your 9-month academic salary?
You'll want to secure external funding from any awards and/or grants by the time invited scholars are expected to accept or decline their CASBS fellowship invitation in February 2013.

5) Have you reviewed the application guidelines to make sure you meet the professional qualifications and understand how the stipend funding works?
