[b]- Master’s Project [/b]: Comparison of SONET vs Metro Ethernet for future generation networks
Analyze, compare and assess the cost estimation for building network architecture one based on SONET and other based on Metro Ethernet. I used Cisco routers like 7600 series router, 76-ES+T-2TG and 20G line cards, ME3400 series switch, XFP and SFP modules, fiber cables like 1000BASE-X and copper cables like 1000BASE-T. Equipments from Force 10 like TURINS, OC-X line cards, OC-X SFPs and Office LAN system cards etc. 
- Antenna system and technology
Researched on various types of antenna, their construction and mathematical analysis. Compared different antennas on basis of parameters like polarization, radiation patterns and applications. 
- CDMA Techniques
Designed block diagram of CDMA system showing importance of each functions from mic to audio speaker. CDMA system design is based on Walsh code technique and orthogonal functions. 
 
- Implementation of BSP Loop, T-1, PON, ONS & HDSL network
 Designed BSP loop containing loaded & unloaded gauges and bridge taps with given spec.

 Prepared ‘Request For Proposal’ document on behalf of a telecom company. Provided the
 least cost data network using MPLS technology when pricing information, inter city traffic and 
 access charges were given. Designed network architecture for country schools using OPNET
 simulator. Devised network topology for future technology like Internet Television 
- Arrayed waveguide and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer 
 Researched on arrayed waveguide as fiber coupled device that can separate or combine 
 signals with different wavelengths. Researched on remotely reconfigurable add/drop 
 multiplexer which switch traffic from WDM channels at wavelength layer. 
- Calculation of attenuation-limited fiber length of fiber optic link using OptiPerformer simulation, designing of fiber optic system calculator using C++
 Used power budget equation to calculate the fiber length by performing simulation on 
 OptiPerformer software. Conducted lab research to produce layouts and results including eye 
 diagrams. Prepared program in C/ C++ language to calculate to attenuation or dispersion of 
 fiber cable.
- Modulation techniques, ATM vs IP, Ethernets
 Research paper on different modulation techniques including digital modulation like ASK, 
 FSK, PSK, QPSK and OQPSK. Differentiated between cell-based switching technique ATM 
 and packet switched technique like IP. Explored Ethernet technology as family of frame-based 
 computer networking, defined wiring and signaling standards for physical layer of OSI model. 
- Trellis coded modulation, 802.1Q/p, SIP vs H.323, NTP &VoIP
 Explored in depth on trellis coded modulation as new modulation scheme based on 
 convolutional codes on low capacity channels. Studied IEEE protocol standard 802.1Q/p as 
 QoS traffic engineering at MAC level. Compared advantages and use of SIP and H.323.
 Distinguished between methods used in NTP and VoIP
- Image compression using DWT compression technique on MATLAB
 Wrote MATLAB program for carrying out JPEG image compression using Discrete Wavelet 
 Transform technique.
