The Richmond Fellowship Society (India) (RFS (I)) was launched in 1986 to provide care and rehabilitation for people with chronic mental illness, such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disease, in India and some neighbouring countries. In 1999 we opened a College to address the skills shortage in the field of rehabilitation. Thousands of individuals with chronic mental illness have benefited from our work since RFS(I) was launched 1986 in Bangalore. http://www.rfsindia.org Over the years we have expanded our work and now have four branches in India – Bangalore Launched in 1986, Delhi launched in 1999, Sidlaghatta launched in 2004 (rural project outside Bangalore) and Lucknow launched in 2005. We run care homes, vocational training and outreach programmes which help individuals and their families cope with their condition and to lead happier, more dignified lives. The RFS (I) is part of the largest NGO mental health network in the world - The RIchmond Fellowship International. The network operates more than 30 countries implementing the priniciples of the therapeutic community worldwide. The therapeutic community is at the heart of our work. Our homes are staffed by rehabilitation experts who run a structured programme of daily activities and provide vocational training. Over the course of six months to a year, our clients are able to return to their families and communities with a higher level of independence, functionality and dignity. Some stay with us indefinitely in specialized homes, though even here many are able to work and have social functions outside of the care home. Contact us: The Richmond Fellowship Society.
