A blind faces innumerable problems in a routine life. Ability to move by own self or self-mobility is a great boon to their life. Ultrasonic haptic vision system enables a person to navigate through hallways and around large objects without sight. The term haptics refer to sensing or manipulation through touch. Haptic communication means human beings communicate by means of touch. An ultrasonic range finder is used to detect obstacle. It allows the user to take the sensory data at discrete points. It haptically interfaces with the user via tiny vibrating motors mounted on the users head. The signals from the sensor is given to the microcontroller. A relay circuit drives the vibrating motors as well as the buzzer which acts as an audio alert. A base station communicates with the mobile station via radio-frequency transmission, receives all of the hardware statesand sensory information and displays it for debugging. In order to provide feedback to a program running on the computer, RF transmission is implemented onto the device, so it can keep track of the sensory data which is obtained from the mobile user. With this feature, it enables the person sitting in front the computer observing the distance between the surrounding obstacles and the user wearing the device. MY CONTRIBUTION TO THIS PROJECT - Designed the procedure of the base station circuit and mobile station circuit and also tested and ensured the desired output. - Designed the software program for serial communication using AVR microcontroller. CONCEPTS EMPLOYED IN THIS PROJECT - Working principle of RADAR - RF-communicatiom - Serial communication using AVR microcontroller APPLICATIONS - Used in coal mines to prevent danger. - Used for blind people to navigate through hallways and around large objects. - Used in archeological surveys to avoid danger. EXTRA CURICULAR ACTIVITIES : - Cricket, Chess Extended social service for the care of elders. STRENGTH : - Analytical skill - Strict disciplinarian - Possess positive emotions - An eye for details WEAKNESS : - Tend to be impatient & hence overlook vital details sometimes. - Essentially shy, at times trust people too much. - My excessive level of modesty which is not required always.
