Education Projects Prediction of Hysteresis Associated With a NACA 0012 Airfoil Computations for 2D unsteady flow past a NACA 0012 airfoil are carried out for increasing and decreasing angles of attack, using FLUENT code. Hysteresis in the aerodynamic coefficients is observed for a small range of angles of attack close to the stall angle. This is due to the variation in the location of the separation point on the upper surface of the airfoil during the increasing and decreasing angles of attack. For increasing angle, the separation point moves gradually towards the leading edge and for decreasing angle, the movement is contrary. Control of the Onset of the Stall Angle on an Aircraft Wing with Vortex Generators The influence of the addition of vortex generators on an aircraft wing with NACA 0012 cross section is analyzed using FLUENT simulations. In addition to increasing the lift coefficient, the addition of vortex generators increases the stalling angle also. The three-dimensional wing with vortex generators is modeled in AUTOCAD. Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interaction in Supersonic Inlets The fluid flow behavior at the interaction between the oblique shock wave and the boundary layer formed on the surface of the inlet is studied by performing numerical simulations using FLUENT.
