Got an opportunity to view the functioning of a Fast Breeder Nuclear Reactor. [B]IEEE PROJECT DESCRIPTION [/B]: [B]TITLE [/B]: PREVENTION OF DERAILMENT OF TRAINS USING MTI RADAR SYSTEM. This project focuses on protection of trains against de-railing. This is achieved by Moving Target Indicator (MTI) surveillance system. MTI works on the principle of Doppler Effect. Once fixed in front of the locomotive, it would provide continuous surveillance, ensuring complete protection. It is capable of sensing the relative motion with the target, amount of metal content in the target, the depth of the target from the ground level, shape of the target. The MTI keeps sending its surveillance signals to a nearby station, to record the events occurred on the particular journey. Increasing the input power fed to the MTI can increase the range of surveillance. The range of surveillance is maintained thrice the braking range. [B]COURSE COMPLETION PROJECT DESCRIPTION [/B]: [B]TITLE [/B]: PLC BASED MONITORING OF WATER FILLING SYSTEM IN TANKER TRUCKS. The project describes about the monitoring of water filling process while being transferred from a reservoir to a tanker truck. One of the prime objectives of this project is to safely systemize the loading function in a manner to prevent wastage at the loading stations. Another prime objective is to provide a system that eliminates manual operation of the valves; the possibility of human inadvertence and human error is also obviated. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is utilized for automation purposes. The PLC used here not only governs the flow but also ensures that the tanker to be filled is positioned properly. This is done by using a Magnetic Proximity sensor that permits the valves to open only if the tanker’s filling hole is properly positioned. In order to avoid wastage that occurs due to spill of water while transferring it from reservoir to tanker truck, an Electro Magnetic Flowmeter (EMF) is fixed between the two Solenoid Valves in the Hydrant. This monitors the flow and once the tank is filled, it sends signals to PLC. The PLC in turn checks whether the level matches the pre-determined level and then closes the valves automatically thereby preventing overflow.
