FIRST TECHNICAL VENTURE Project on “Studies on Removal of Cr (VI) From Waste Water by Using Sago Palm & Betel Nut”. SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT Ø Batch- mode contact time experiments were conducted. The equilibrium time is 240 minutes for the removal of heavy metal, Cr (VI) by the chosen adsorbent under a given set of operating condition. Ø The amount of chromium (VI) ions removed at equilibrium is found to be 85% on sago palm and 77% on betel nut of the adsorbent. Ø The study of the effect of pH by the experimental solution on adsorption potential revealed that the pH in the range 2 appeared as the most favorable range for the maximum removal of Cr(VI) ions on sago palm. Ø The study of the effect of the initial Cr concentration on adsorption efficiency indicated that the initial Cr concentration had a definite degree of effect on the Cr removal. Ø The adsorption isotherms were drawn and studied. FAVORITE FIELDS Ø Heat transfer Ø Mass transfer Ø Chemical Reaction Engineering PERSONAL PLUS Ø Optimistic. Ø A good planner.
